Spruce Conic - a small beauty

Russians are so used to the forest landscape that they do not notice how decorative the common European spruce is .

They remember this only before the New Year's holidays, and even then, in order to choose a Christmas tree in a more pristine and more orderly manner. There are fifty species of spruce, of which the most famous is the Canadian spruce , which is a large tall tree reaching a height of thirty meters. This species has twenty more decorative forms, of which, perhaps, the most interesting is the conic spruce. This low tree is strictly conical in shape, in sixty years it is only four meters high. It grows extremely slowly. Found it in the early twentieth century in Canada. Apparently, this is a natural mutation of Canadian blue spruce. The name "Konica" spruce was obtained thanks to an almost perfect cone of closely sprouting shoots. The color of the needles of these wonderful Christmas trees is gently green.

Care

If there is a stone slide on the site, the Konica fir is quite suitable for her, care of which is not complicated at all. She likes open spaces. A fertile wet loam is the best soil for it. If the soil is sandy at the site, it will be necessary to add loam or humus to it. In the pit for planting, you can put a bucket of overgrown manure and 100 grams of full NPK fertilizer. All you need to mix well.

And here is the pine cone planted. It grows very slowly. During the summer period, it can add only 3-4 cm and by the age of 10, the tree will grow up to one meter in height. With such speed, it will grow the rest of her life, so she will not require pruning.

If there is a hot and arid weather, then it is necessary to pour the Christmas tree so that the whole crown is wet (sprinkling). Every year at the beginning of the summer, 4-5 kg of overgrown manure should be placed under the crown, and in the autumn the surface of the root canopy should be covered with a layer of humus, since most of the roots are very close to the surface of the earth. So that the spring sun does not burn the tender green needles, the herringbone is covered with burlap. If suddenly in spring the needles all the same get stuck, then do not be afraid, it's not a burn or a disease, but a tree's reaction to the spring sun. When the earth recoils, and the roots regain their normal activity, the needles will return its original greenery.

How a plant to survive the winter in an apartment

Now it is fashionable to put a Christmas tree in a tub at New Year's Eve. And very often it turns out that this is the conic spruce. Of course, the owners want to keep such a Christmas tree, so that in spring it can be planted in a dacha or a garden plot. Any coniferous plants, with the exception of some (southern) species, will not be hibernated in an apartment. And the conic spruce is also one of them. To ensure that it lasts until the spring, you need a bright and cool room with a temperature below + 15 ° C, for example, it can be insulated and glazed loggia. And more it is necessary to transplant this herringbone into a more voluminous pot with normal nutrient soil. Then, maybe, she will survive, and will long please the owners with her exotic view of their dacha or garden plot.
