Spruce pale blue: affordable exotics on the plot

Beautiful fluffy beauty on the site - fir tree blue - the dream of almost every owner of a private house. You can buy ready-made seedlings, however, this is quite expensive, but you can grow it yourself from seeds, by cuttings or by inoculation.

Let us dwell in more detail on what and how to do to grow a blue spruce, the reproduction of which will be with the help of seeds.

What should be the soil

Before cultivating a tree in any way, it is necessary to select the right site on which the blue spruce will grow. You can not use land on which there were previously corn, potatoes or other crops damaged by fungal diseases, since this is fraught with infection of fir-trees with mushrooms of the genus Fusarium.

When planting, it is necessary to add soil to the soil taken from under coniferous trees in the forest, as it contains hyphae of fungus, which contribute to good development. They help the roots to better digest microelements from the soil.

The earth should also be fertilized with peat with fertilizers in such proportions: on a peat bucket - 20 g of azofosca, 35 g of limestone flour (mix everything thoroughly so that there are no lumps). The seeds are poured from above, and on them a mixture of peat with coniferous sawdust, through such mulch it is easy to shoot through the shoots, since there is no surface dense crust.

Place for planting a tree

When choosing a place, it is necessary to take into account that blue spruce has a powerful root system, so in time it will oppress and obscure other cultures. In addition, the soil under the coniferous trees is acidified, so few plants can withstand such conditions. This is also one of the reasons why it is very rare to see any plants under pine and spruce.

Seed preparation

Before you get seeds from the cones, they (cones) should be dried in a cloth bag, then they open better, the seeds will be easier to get. Fold them in the same bag and gently rub, freeing the lionfish. Then pour into the jar, which is put in the refrigerator for storage.

To grow a blue spruce, planting should be at a time when the night frosts are over, and the earth is warmed up. It is best to do it on time from 20 to 25 June. Before planting, the seeds are soaked for a day in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, and then lightly dried.

Planting seeds

Plant five holes in the wells and spray twice a day with water. Do not water abundantly, as waterlogging creates a favorable environment for the occurrence of fungal diseases. At the end of August, the seedlings are thinned, leaving the strongest and tallest tree.

Seedlings are selected in color after three to four years.

Reproduction by cuttings

Cuttings of blue spruce are rooted in a greenhouse or a greenhouse (they do not take root in the open ground) with high humidity. It would be better if you use a fogging plant. Spruce blue propagates both summer and winter cuttings, but winter roots take 3-4 times faster than summer ones. Typically, this takes 2.5-3 months.

And last, to grow a tree of fifteen-meter height, it will take at least 30 years.
