How to plant peanuts? Peanuts: planting, growing

The name of this nut originated from the Greek word "arachne", which in translation means "spider". Somewhat unusual, is not it? However, everything is explained very simply: a cobweb pattern is clearly visible on its shell. Although it can be called a nut very conventionally, as it refers to the oilseed crops and the legume family.

Where does peanuts grow?

The most valuable nuts are those grown in Argentina and the United States. A lot of peanuts are grown in China. A significant plantation is occupied by this culture in southern Africa and in India.

Peanuts at home

It may seem surprising, but this nut does not belong to the group of wild plants. Your home greenhouse will be very adorned with peanuts. How to plant it? It is very simple, besides this plant does not need special care. Planting peanuts and growing it is not at all more difficult than growing room violets, and the benefits from it are much greater.

Peanuts: planting, growing

Planting material can be ordinary nuts, which are now abundantly sold in all stores. Shell from them do not need to shoot. Soak the nuts in the water, and then put them on a tissue napkin and expect the appearance of sprouts. As soon as they appear, you can plant nuts in the soil. Planting peanuts is made in a moist, loose ground with a small amount of sand. It is necessary to know that this plant is thermophilic, so it is advisable to soak it in April. In this case, it will actively develop in the summer months. During this period it grows most intensively. But if you risk putting it in later terms, then you will need to carefully monitor the temperature and lighting.

Necessary care

We talked about the fact that caring for the plant is not too complicated, but this does not mean that it's enough to plant in a pot and put peanuts on a balcony. How to plant it so that, as a result, you get valuable results? During flowering, the plant needs abundant watering, and after its termination, water will require much less. During the flowering period, the plant is able to decorate any greenhouse - bright yellow-orange flowers appear on it. When they fall, in their place there are gynofors - sprouts, which some time grow up, and then rush to the ground. Entering it, they form ovaries, from which the walnut is subsequently formed in the earth.

Beginners and gardeners should be aware that not always the genofors are able to reach the ground themselves. Therefore, for very high plants, you can use ordinary eggshells filled with earth, which should be substituted for the genofors. As soon as the leaves on the plant start to turn yellow - this means that the nuts are fully ripe, and they can be extracted from the soil. Peanuts are a one-year plant, therefore, having received a crop, it will have to part with it.

Outdoor cultivation

Landing peanuts on the plot is slightly different from its cultivation at home. In the southern regions of our country, the germs can be planted in the open ground in the middle or late May, when the air temperature is set at around +20 - +25 degrees. Over the summer months, the plant will develop well, and you will collect quality peanuts. How to plant a nut in more northern latitudes? In this case, it is more expedient to use seedlings, which must be grown in early April, and in early June it can already be planted in open ground.

Pay attention to the place where your peanuts will grow. How to plant it most successfully? This should be an open, well-lit garden, on which before grown potatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, but in no case other legumes.

Harvesting

When the bushes begin to dry out, you can collect the walnut. As a rule, this happens in early October. On the day you start collecting, the weather should be sunny and warm, so that the soil is completely dry. By the way, a week before this watering the plant should be completely stopped. In this case, the bush will go out easily. Dig out the peanuts more conveniently with the help of forks - gently pride the rhizome so that the nuts are left on the bush.

Dilute the plants for 2 -3 days in a dry, well ventilated room. Then cocoons with nuts can be collected and left at room temperature until completely dry. You will learn about this by shaking the cocoon - the nuts should be freely rolled in it.

Use of peanuts

Despite the fact that you now know how to plant peanuts, do not expect that on a window sill or balcony you can grow a multi-kilogram harvest, but an ordinary person does not need that much. Peanuts are very high in calories, there are a lot of fiber in it. Nutritionists do not recommend eating it in large quantities. This nut has found wide application in cooking. It is used in the preparation of various sauces, meat dishes, confectionery.

In this form, it can be stored for up to six months. You can leave the nut in a dry and dark place - it will be suitable for use for three months. But if you freeze it, then this period will increase to a year.

Peanuts: benefit and harm

For the sake of justice, it should be noted that this product is completely unpredictable - it can be extremely useful for the human body, and can seriously harm. Until now, disputes between scientists and nutritionists on these issues have not abated. So where is the truth?

The undoubted merits of peanuts include the following qualities:

- antioxidant properties;

- strengthens the immune system;
