Geranium meadow, domestic and marsh

Geranium is, perhaps, one of the most common plants among garden and indoor cultures. It looks harmoniously on the windowsill in the office or apartment, it looks great in the balcony boxes, in the cottages and in the gardens. The plant creates a warm atmosphere in the house, has positive energy, and that's why it can be found more often than other colors.

Geraniums are also called pelargonium in another way, and it is represented by a huge variety of species. There are more than a dozen varieties of this plant, the most common of which are meadow geranium, domestic and marsh. Despite the fact that they all belong to the same class, each of them has its own differences, which must be taken into account before starting their breeding.

Geranium meadow is a perennial plant with a branched, erect stalk, whose height varies from 40 to 110 cm. In Russia, this species is most often found in its central part, as well as in Siberia. The geranium grows in the fields, on the fringes, meadows and near the habitation of people, usually along fences and roads. Geranium meadow has palchate-separated, opposite leaves, which are lowered, like the stem. The apex of the stem is geranium sticky, as if impregnated with glue. Thus, the plant tries to protect its pollen from eating insects. Blossoms geranium meadow from June to the end of September, and its fruit looks like a box that looks like a beak. The plant is very valued not only for its beauty, but also for its medicinal properties. Flowers, leaves and stem collect as a medicinal raw material and are used to prepare medicinal infusions. Geranium marsh is found mainly in lowlands, on wet meadows and marshes. It is able to crawl on the branches of low pines and birches and twist them with its stems. Because of the lack of support, the stem has nothing left to do but spread along the ground. Its length is from 30 to 100 cm. The peculiarity of the marsh geranium is thick swelling - the nodes that divide the stem in several places. Due to the fact that on long stems the number of such nodes can reach a large number, geranium marsh has received the popular name - "stokolenets." The flowers of this plant are large, single, lilac-red or purple.

The domestic variety of pelargonium, as well as its swamp and meadow "sister" is not very whimsical. It is easy to take care of, easy to reproduce, and it blooms for a long time, abundantly and beautifully. In addition to beauty, homemade geranium is endowed with useful properties. The leaves of the plant give off specific bactericidal substances that possess hemostatic powers, repel various insects and even kill microbes. Geranium oil is actively used in aromatherapy due to the fact that it is an excellent relaxant.

In order to geranium domestic well established in the room, it needs to provide nutritious soil, which contains garden land, peat and sand. When choosing a pot for a plant, one should take into account the fact that in small pots the geranium blossoms better, more vividly and beautifully. In order to regularly flow to the roots of the flower, and water does not stagnate in the pot, it is necessary to regularly loosen the soil and make a good drainage. When watering, do not forget that it is better to dry the plant than to pour it. With too much water, Pelargonium can stop blooming, despite the fact that the leaves are fresh and good.
