Chickenpox in children up to the year

Chickenpox (chicken pox) is the most common acute viral disease. It is the most contagious childhood infection, so if your child is already a kindergarten, then you can not escape it.

Infecting with chickenpox is easy enough, because the viruses that provoke it spread in the air, penetrate even through the ventilation holes and are transmitted by airborne droplets between the children (and also between infected adults) through the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and eyes.

The whole process of infection (from the moment of the infection itself to the appearance of the first signs) lasts 1-3 weeks. But the infectious patient is already from the first hour of penetration of the virus into the body. The child remains a carrier of the disease for one week.

Chickenpox in children under one year is a relatively rare phenomenon, mostly it worries children at the age of 2-5 years. This disease does not pose a particular danger, however, it requires clear rules of treatment and their strict observance.

The first signs of chickenpox in children

External manifestations and symptoms of chickenpox are easily recognized and are quite typical for an infectious disease. But this is possible already at the late stage of chickenpox, when the incubation period has already ended.

Firstly, the temperature of the baby rises slightly (to 38 degrees).

Secondly, the entire body of the child (as well as the scalp) is covered with a pale pink rash. After a while, the rash turns into bubbles with a clear liquid, with the formation of a red skin around them. After a few more days, the bubbles are covered with crusts (which gradually dry out and easily fall off) and lose their transparency.

All new elements of a rash appear within 3-5 days, therefore simultaneously on a body of the kid you will see both crusts, and a speck.

Chickenpox in children up to a year affects the general condition of their body. Kids become sluggish, drowsy, irritable, overly capricious and lose their appetite.

But the most unpleasant in this disease is the constant and severe itching that accompanies the rash. Each child, as a rule, tries to comb the pimples and, thus, breaks the crusts. To explain to him that it can not be done is almost impossible. But this can provoke infection in the wound and their subsequent suppuration, resulting in small scars on the skin. Therefore, the child should be closely monitored, entertained and distracted from scratching.

Treatment of chickenpox

Chickenpox in children up to a year can take place in both mild and severe forms. It depends, first of all, on the immunity transmitted by the mother to the baby in the womb. That is why it is so important for pregnant women who have not had chickenpox, to be vaccinated from it in time.

You can treat chickenpox at home. The main goal of the parents is to prevent a purulent rash. So, you need to observe the child's personal hygiene.

First, the clothes of the baby, as well as everything that surrounds him, must be clean.

Secondly, the baby's marigolds should be cut short, so that he, combing the problem spots, does not bring himself an infection.

And thirdly, the baby should be distracted with all the strength of the itch and the desire to scratch it. Herbal baths will help to solve such a problem, because they will support the purity of the body, and soothe the itching.

In addition, you need to maintain a certain temperature in the baby's room and prevent heat, because it helps to increase the itching.

Chickenpox in infants should be, as it should, treated with a water or alcohol solution of zelenka, as well as a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Judging by the latest medical data, this is done in order to track the intensity of the appearance of new elements of the rash, and not to control the spread of infection.

If the child has a significant fever, then he can give an antipyretic, and if he does not tolerate severe itching - an antiallergic agent.

Also, do not forget about the daily examination of the baby's head, his genitals and the condition of pimples under the crust. And if around them there is swelling and redness, and from within is allocated some kind of liquid - urgently call a doctor. Only a qualified specialist will be able to prescribe the optimal treatment.

Chickenpox in children up to a year produces a permanent lifelong immunity, that is, a recurrent disease is no longer possible. Although there are rare exceptions.
