The Day of the Medic in Russia is celebrated in June

The medico day in Russia, as well as in many former union republics, is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. This holiday is relatively young. It was first noted in 1981, after the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted a corresponding decree. Its official name is Day of the Medical Worker.

On this day, colleagues and patients, friends and relatives of people involved in this field, give them gifts and bring the most sincere congratulations, because this is one of those professions whose representatives save a person's life in the literal sense of the word. All of us, in one way or another, encounter physicians throughout their lives. And if it becomes really bad for us or our relatives, we grab the phone and call the doctors in the hope that they will come and ease our suffering. And they rush to help us with the siren turned on and do everything to make us feel better.

The profession of a doctor is one of the oldest in the history of mankind. Even ancient people were engaged in healing: first they tried to do something to calm their own pain, and then began to try to help their fellow tribesman. It was at the moment when one person began to take care of the health of another, the profession of a healer was born. Experience and knowledge in the field of medicine accumulated for millennia and eventually came to a modern level of development. In order to become a modern doctor, you need to study for a long time, then get trained and only after that you can get the right to be called a doctor.

I would like to remind you that not only doctors, but also nurses, laboratory assistants, hospital attendants, nurses and other "people in white coats", who have something to do with medicine, celebrate Medical Day in Russia. After all, in our time this is an extensive industry, which includes science, business, government structures, services and many other related industries. According to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, at the beginning of 2013, 2 million 162 thousand medical workers were involved in the branch organizations.

The day of the medic in Russia does not have a specific calendar date. The same story with Teacher's Day, Day of the accountant and many other professional holidays. Therefore, every year you need to re-define when the Day of the Medic is celebrated. The number can be viewed in a professional calendar, where it is usually highlighted in red. If you do not have a specialized calendar, count out the third Sunday in June and go for flowers and sweets. The 2013 medical day was celebrated on June 16.

The state tries to financially support medicine, rightly believing that the general state of the nation's health, the life expectancy of citizens and the increase in the birth rate depend on the high level of professionalism of its employees, on the decent technical equipment of the process, on the comfortable working conditions of physicians and the conditions of patients' stay in medical institutions. A national project "Health" was developed, which included many activities aimed at supporting the industry.

According to the tradition that has developed in recent years, before the celebration of the Medic's Day, the National Prize "Vocation" is awarded in Russia, the founder of which was the "Health" program. The award is issued in several categories: for saving a person's life during an operation, for opening a new medical method and a new medical direction, for fidelity to the profession and others. More than three hundred doctors from all over Russia became laureates of the award during its existence.
