  1. Application of plaster.
  2. Finish the panels.
  3. Combined way.

Most of the area of the premises consists of walls that are almost completely open, because they are visible all the defects. The question is how to level the walls in an apartment, usually occurs when major repairs are done. Unevenness can be hidden under liquid wallpaper or decorative plaster. The smaller defects are well hidden under the wallpaper with a chaotic pattern. This will be a partial solution to the problem, but at the expense of it the amount of the remaining work can be significantly reduced.

How to make walls flat with plasterboard

If a decision is made to decide how to level the walls, drywall is chosen, then again it is necessary to determine in what way it should be done. There are two options. It is frameless and skeleton.

Frameless method

Installation of gypsum boards (GKL) is carried out on a special glue. If the irregularities do not exceed 7 mm, the composition is spread over the wall with a notched trowel. With curvature up to 20 mm, the glue is applied in the form of flat cakes on a sheet with a small interval. It should be bred in small portions, since the solidification takes place in half an hour. Cakes are applied along the entire perimeter of the GCR, then two more rows along the vertical. The sheet is pressed against the wall and leveled using a level and a malleold of wood or rubber. When laying, check for flatness in the corners and at the joints.

Wireframe method

When they decide how to level the walls in the apartment, it is necessary to take into account that the skeleton method "eats" a rather large volume of the room. It is used mostly in spacious rooms and when it is necessary to hide communications.

For the installation of sheets, first fix the framework of profiles or well-dried wooden bars. First install the ceiling and floor guide profiles, and they put vertical stands at a distance of 40 and 60 cm. The latter are additionally fastened with suspenders, which are nailed to the walls. Then communications are laid inside the frame, after which they begin to be fastened with self-tapping screws GKL. All joints between them must necessarily pass along the profiles. During the installation, plasterboards, sockets and switches are inserted into the plasterboard. All electrical appliances from the walls under the GCR must be removed and the exposed ends of the wires protected by insulation.

On the joints between the sheets a primer is applied, after which they are glued with a serpent, and then putty is applied to it.

Alignment of walls with building mortar

When choosing what to level the walls, the first idea comes about using plaster as the most common method. But first of all it is necessary to determine the curvature of the walls and calculate the required amount of the building mix. The question is, the better the alignment of the walls, it can be solved much easier if you think through all the details and make the right decision. The thickness of the plaster layer can be significantly reduced if the puncher is brought down by the main projections. It is possible that the wall after this will simply need to putty, after which it will be perfectly even.

If the unevenness on the wall can not be removed, you must purchase the required amount of primer and plaster. The tools will need a level and putty knives.

Such work is usually carried out with a complete replacement of electrical wiring. Even in new homes it may turn out that it does not suit the hosts in terms of capacity and location of lamps, switches and sockets. Work with electricity is no less laborious, since it may be necessary to shatter the walls under the wiring. In addition, all electrical appliances need to be removed and the ends of the wires insulated.

First of all, the wall is covered with several layers of primer. It is better to keep plaster. Primer is applied with a roller or construction brushes. Brushes are also necessary for hard-to-reach places, for example in niches and corners.

After the primed surface dries, the wall can be plastered. For small irregularities, one leveling layer is sufficient. Typically, apply three layers of plaster with a primer of each.

Rules for the application of plaster

  1. The plaster is spread over the wall in the circular movements of a wide spatula.
  2. The first layer is draft, with its help eliminate the main depressions and protuberances.
  3. After applying all layers, the wall is finally leveled with putty.

Alignment of walls with cement-sand mortar

Than to level the walls in the house? For many, the answer to this question is not a problem. The method of leveling the walls with a cement-sand mortar is considered the most common, cheap and simple. The skills of preparation and application of plaster are quickly acquired and always remain in demand.

The surface of the wall is first treated with a primer. Then on it at a distance of 1 m guide rails, called beacons, are installed. They are fixed to the cement slurry and allowed to dry. Plaster from cement with sand is prepared according to the recipe indicated on the package. Then the mixture is applied with a trowel on the wall, which is pre-moistened. The layer should be 2-3 mm behind the level of the lighthouses. After that, follow them with the rule from the bottom up, so that the surface becomes even. In places where there are small depressions, you need to add the solution with a spatula, and then once again align the wall with the rule.

After the first layer is applied, they give him a foothold and dry, then apply the next. So they continue to work until the whole wall is leveled. Finishing works can be continued after 10 days, when the cement is completely dry.

Than to level the walls in the bathroom

Bathroom is a small room, repairs can be done quickly and efficiently. Than to level the walls in the bathroom? To do this, apply a cement-sand mixture or gypsum, which after hardening are not afraid of water. Waterproof plasterboard is also suitable, but it takes up a lot of space. Deciding how to level the walls under the tile, you need to weigh the pros and cons to make the right choice. Solution mortar is produced by special plaster beacons, which are not removed afterwards and thus strengthen the applied layer. The solution is thrown onto the wall by the trowel, and the projecting parts are cut and they are also rubbed by the recesses that are formed. Before finishing the wall is primed. Then you can glue ceramic tiles on it.

Than to level the walls for wallpaper

It is difficult to achieve an ideal wall surface in a large room. And often you have to think about how to level the walls under the wallpaper. Here the most important is the last stage. Rough finishing is also of great importance, since the general evenness of the surfaces depends on it. Brick walls must be pre-plastered. Old surfaces are carefully cleaned, they must be removed from the previous finish. For leveling the surface under the wallpaper, as a rule, the most commonly used putty.

The solution is applied in several layers until the final alignment is achieved. Each time the surface of the wall should be dried and applied a primer coat on top. The last layer of putty is ground using sandpaper.

How to prepare solutions for wall leveling

Solutions can be ready or they have to be planted independently. Filler and plaster solutions for leveling are mineral mixtures with special additives. As a binder they use cement, intended for use in wet rooms. If a glutinous base is used, the composition is suitable only for dry rooms.

Gypsum plaster is widely used. It is able to regulate the humidity in the room, absorbing or giving it away, and is a good heat insulator.

The question of how to level the walls can be easily solved by applying decorative plaster. Different types of it serve as a finishing coat or a foundation for it. Textured surface well hides irregularities and flaws.

There is a large variety of leveling compounds for plastering a thin layer of flat surfaces made of building materials. They do not hold well only on plastic and wooden bases. Special compositions for restoration of facades of buildings are made.

Conditions for the application of all wall coverings:

  • The substrate must be clean and free of old coating;
  • The surfaces are pre-treated with a primer or a lining emulsion.

When solving the problem, than to level the surface of the wall, there is always the question of saving. The cheapest are simple solutions. They are quite effective, they can be cooked by hand. Lime dough mixed with sand in a ratio of 1: 5 and thoroughly mixed. The mixture must be used on the same day, so that it does not lose its properties. Cement is mixed with sand in a ratio of 1: 5, to which 0.1 part of lime is added. Grasping occurs in an hour.

The mixture can be lean when it contains little binder. It does not separate during application and does not crack when dry, but is not strong. Fatty mixture is different in that it sticks to the tool. When drying, it shrinks and can form cracks. When preparing, you need to make a medium solution. Then it is well applied and forms a strong layer.

How to Align Angles

The unevenness of the corners underscores the curvature of the walls, and this most of all spoils the appearance of the room. To output internal angles, beacons are first established. From the corners they should be about 30 cm apart. First, the plaster is applied between all the beacons, and then it is leveled by the rule. After the plaster dries, the corner is laid with putty with a slightly larger density than necessary, at intervals of 20 cm. Then the perforated corner (counter) is pressed into it by means of a level, the excess coating is removed. The next day, the surfaces of the adjacent plane of the walls are leveled, and then the finish coat is applied.

At the outer corners, the counter-tongue is pressed into the putty on the contrary. All other operations are performed in the same way.

To speed up the process, the profile is first installed on the adhesive for plasterboard, after which it will be possible to align the angle in an hour. If the differences are too large, then they can be smoothed with the same material.

Conclusion

Deciding how to level the walls, you must first determine the consumption of materials and funds. The walls are easier to level with plasterboard if the unevenness is considerable.

Correct evaluation of the quality of the surface allows you to make the necessary decisions and facilitate the repair of an apartment or house. Modern building materials allow a lot to be achieved, and some of them have unique properties.
