How to make glue for drywall yourself?

Today, such material as plasterboard is very widely used during repair. This is due to the versatility of the application: the lining of pipes in bathrooms, an arched opening, a decorative structure of plasterboard on the ceiling, shelves and niches, as well as all kinds of interior partitions.

Often, the installation of sheets of plasterboard is done on a pre-assembled frame, consisting of metal profiles or wooden bars. However, laying gypsum cardboard on glue is an excellent alternative to the traditional option. This allows you to save considerable time and money, as well as avoid loss of useful space due to the structure of the frame. Most often, the laying of plasterboard on the glue is done in the manufacture of window slopes, as well as for leveling the walls. If you glue the sheets of gypsum board into the joint, without seams, then the result is a perfectly flat surface. In the future, you can go through the finish putty and paint, or lay the tile, glue the wallpaper, etc. For installing plasterboard on a large area it is better to buy ready-made glue for drywall in a construction shop. If you need to glue drywall on a small area or a few slopes, then such glue can be prepared independently at home.

To do this, we need: a suitable container, a construction mixer (the nozzle on the perforator also fits), starting putty, water, construction PVA-glue. Next, you must follow the following instructions and you can prepare the adhesive for drywall.

Take start shpaklevka and diluted with water in the same way as the usual solution. If there is no starting putty, then you can replace it with a finishing coat. The solution is kneaded until it resembles a homogeneous, thick mass without clots and lumps. If the solution is very liquid, then during the gluing process, it will flow out from under the sheet. If the solution is too dense, then it will not be very convenient to work with it and it will not be possible to attach the material qualitatively.

Then PVA is added to the mixture and mixed again. The quantity of glue is taken from the calculation of 1 kg of glue for 13-15 kg of putty. It is necessary to give a few minutes to stick to the glue, and then it can be used to mount drywall.

Adhesive for plasterboard is applied pointwise (diameter about 15 cm) on the sheet along the edge and in the middle, and also on the surface of the walls. The weight of the standard sheet of gypsum board is about 30 kg, therefore it is not recommended to use a large amount of glue, since it will be hard to work.

After the glue has been applied, carefully apply the sheet and lightly press it. All the manipulations should be carried out very carefully, as the plasterboard itself is rather fragile and can easily crack. With the help of the building level, the horizontals and verticals are controlled. For greater reliability, it is possible to fix the bonded drywall in several places with dowels or self-tapping screws. Adhesive for drywall, made independently, is not inferior in its properties factory.
