Narrow pelvis during pregnancy

Pregnancy. What could be more beautiful than this in a woman's life? In fact, this stage is accompanied by a huge number of difficulties with which the future mother alone can not cope. As soon as a woman knows that she is pregnant, she almost immediately signs up for an obstetrician-gynecologist who will most likely watch her throughout her pregnancy. At the first reception a woman should inform herself about a lot of information. In addition, the specialist will have to make some measurements. For example, measure the pelvis of a pregnant woman. Many women for the first time from their doctor hear that they have a narrow pelvis. However, what exactly this concept means, we will consider further.

A narrow pelvis during pregnancy is a structure of the bones of a future mother, in which any of the sizes that are basic is less than one or two centimeters in size. With such a "lack", it will be difficult for a woman to have a baby, since his head simply does not pass through the so-called pelvic ring. A narrow pelvis during childbirth is quite common. Future mums in this situation are most often assigned to cesarean section. If you do not make the necessary measurements in time and do not reveal that the future mother has too narrow a pelvis during pregnancy, serious trouble may arise during the birth of the child. It is for this reason that every woman is simply obliged to register in a women's consultation in advance.

Specialists distinguish two basic concepts of the so-called narrow pelvis. This is clinical and functional. In the first case, the pelvis may be more or less sufficient for the baby to pass through it during childbirth. As for the second case, here it is directly about the cesarean section, the need for which appears only during the birth itself. A similar situation is most often found in two percent of a hundred. For any obstetrician or gynecologist, the concept of pelvic value is very important. The fact is that the favorable outcome of this process depends on it. The main condition for normal delivery is the presence of a sufficient size of the pelvis in a woman, according to which the baby can pass.

In order to identify a narrow pelvis during pregnancy, it is first of all necessary to measure the distance between the so-called ileal bones. This value should be at least twenty-six centimeters. In addition, specialists often pay attention to the distance between the most remote areas of the iliac crests. This value is usually twenty-eight to twenty-nine centimeters. Further, the doctor measures the distance between the widest bones of the pelvis, that is, large femur bones. It should not be less than thirty-one centimeters. We must not forget about the supracloreal fossa. The distance between it and the uppermost edge of the so-called pubic simvisa is normally twenty to twenty-one centimeters.

A narrow pelvis during pregnancy can be determined by examining the vagina itself. Do not worry and worry in advance if you think that you have too narrow a basin. As it was already said above, when setting such a "diagnosis" a large number of factors and values are taken into account. For example, the thickness of bones is not the last place in this list. In order to determine it, a special index was introduced. It should not be more than fourteen centimeters. The more massive a woman's bone, the less her pelvis. For more accurate results, the doctor can send her patient to X-ray. Thanks to such a study and ultrasound, it is enough to just find out the correspondence between the size of the fetus and the pelvic bones of a woman. However, x-rays are prescribed only in special cases. It is for this reason that it remains to trust the results of the external measurement and hope that in your case a narrow pelvis during pregnancy will not prevent birth of a healthy child.
