History of the cocktail "Long Island". Recipe and ingredients
However paradoxical it may sound, the cocktail was invented in America during the period of the dry law. In those days, alcohol was under strict prohibition. And drinkers were forced to go to various tricks to enjoy their favorite drinks. The cocktail "Long Island", the recipe of which at that time was kept secret, looked very much like ordinary tea. He was even served with a slice of lemon for more similarity. Its color and flavor did not betray the composition of the drink. Used it cold with pieces of ice (this tradition has survived to this day). Thus, the locals could afford to relax a little after a hard day's work, without fear of punishment from the authorities.
The cocktail "Long Island", the recipe of which later became famous all over the world, came out of the shadows only in 1970. There is one interesting story related to this drink. According to her, the origin of the cocktail is inextricably linked with the unusual "play" of local laborers. It was to go all the way along the street, without missing a single bar here. Of course, the winner was the one who managed after such libations to get to the end of the street on his feet.
You need 20 ml of gin, a little less vodka (15 ml), as much silver tequila, light rum, as well as orange liqueur, half a lemon, a little Gomme syrup (30 ml), ice cubes and "Cola" to taste.
Prepare a high glass. Put ice in it. Mix all the alcohol and syrup in the glass. Press the same juice of lemon. Pour out the cola. All carefully mixed with a special spoon for cocktails. "Long Island", the recipe of which you just learned, is almost ready. It remains only to decorate the glass before serving. This is done with a small slice of lemon and a bright tube.
