"Dry law" and its positive impact on the health of citizens

Unfortunately, our country is the leader in the use of strong alcoholic beverages in the modern world. However, today it is difficult to imagine that even some 100 years ago we had a "dry law", and alcohol was not used by all. What has happened over the past 100 years, and why is the "dry law" not introduced today? To answer this question, it is necessary to touch upon many aspects, the main ones of which we will now cover.

First of all, it is necessary to know that alcohol from the scientific point of view is a potent narcotic poison, which in small doses leads to what we call intoxication (from the medical point of view it is a narcotic poisoning of the body), and in large ones can even lead to death. Today, it is widely believed that small doses of alcohol are useful, but there is no scientific evidence for this. "Dry law" was adopted not only in our country at the beginning and at the end of the 20th century, but also in the USA, since the general abuse of this drink led to disastrous consequences for the country. The most terrible thing was that the moderate use of alcohol, which is put in the framework of "cultural drinking", is also wrong, since the drug can not be taken moderately. Sooner or later the dose will increase, and the person will be drawn to it more and more often. Proof of this are the figures of sociological studies that showed that during the period of the "dry law" in the USSR in 1985-1991 in the country , the life expectancy of men increased by 2.8 years and reached a maximum value in the history of sociological research. It is noteworthy that in this period each year was born to 500 thousand children more than in the previous 20 years. Moreover, sick children began to be born 3 times less than before the introduction of the ban on the sale of alcohol.

Thus, the "dry law" demonstrated staggering results, which in the future could lead to a serious revival of our people and achievement of a high level of economic and cultural development. However, unfortunately, not all representatives of the powerful were interested in this, because already in 1991 the law was abolished, and the soldering of the Russian people began. As a result, there was a sharp decline in fertility, mortality increased significantly, and the level of spiritual development began to fall. There was a large number of homeless children whose parents were in alcohol dependence. In addition, the level of crime, traffic accidents, unemployment has risen sharply, and many single mothers have appeared; The country lost many competent engineers, scientists and creative personalities.

Despite the fact that many crisis phenomena of the 1990s have been overcome today, the problem of alcoholization remains acute enough. "Dry law" could dramatically improve the situation, since history indicates a positive impact on the population. Every year the population decline in Russia is 1 million people. Since the repeal of the "dry law" in 1991, we have already lost several tens of millions of people, which is comparable to our losses in the Second World War, but the government prefers to keep silent about this problem and concentrate the attention of the population on minor problems.

It should also be understood that the adoption of any legislative measures in this respect is clearly not enough, because people themselves must understand the harmfulness of the use of any alcoholic beverages. "Dry law" in Russia did not eradicate drunkenness, since many simply began to drive moonshine and wine at home. However, even so, the ban on the sale of alcohol had positive results for our country.

If we talk about foreign countries, the most famous example is the "dry law" in the US, which was adopted by the government of President Woodrow Wilson in 1920. In addition to the fact that it was practically not observed anywhere, it led to the growth of organized crime and smuggling of alcohol, and therefore a large number of criminal groups appeared throughout the country .

Summarizing all of the above, it should be said that in general, the "dry law" can positively affect the population, but it must also be understood that people should be ready for it. I would like to hope that our country in the very near future will be able to overcome such a serious problem.
