Cardiology. Cardiopalmus

A rapid heartbeat is attributed to a subjective sensation that occurs when the normal rhythm of the heartbeat is disturbed.

The cause of this symptom may be an increase in physical activity, stress, menopause, fever. Heart palpitations can accompany myocarditis, cardiosclerosis, endocarditis, myocardial dystrophy, heart defects, arterial hypertension, various endocrine diseases, as well as anemia, neurosis and vegetative-vascular dystonia.

As a rule, the symptom is combined with pain in the heart area, shortness of breath, increased anxiety. In some cases, there is tremor in the limbs, sweating, a sense of lack of air, faintness and so on.

If you complain about heart palpitations, ECG and stress tests are used to identify the exact nature of changes in the heart rate . Visualization of the whole organ and its large vessels is done with the help of ECHR.

The symptom is, as a rule, sudden, paroxysmal. In some cases, heart palpitations can reach a significant intensity. This disturbance is characterized by increased tones and pulse.

As is known, in most cases the rhythm of the contractions is within sixty to eighty beats per minute. Thus, the full blood flow through the vessels is ensured. Increasing the need for more oxygen causes rapid heartbeat. Treatment of this symptom in many cases is not appointed. This is due to the fact that in most cases the rhythm disturbance occurs due to an increase in physical activity. For example, when you run, the rhythm can increase to 130-150 strokes. In this case, the frequency increases in proportion to the intensity of physical activity. Strengthening the rhythm can also cause mental activity. In this case, the substance in the brain requires more oxygen and energy.

To a lesser extent, the regulation of the frequency of contractions of the heart produces consciously the cortex of the brain. The regulation is more subconscious. This involves the nervous vegetative system, in particular, its parasympathetic and sympathetic departments.

Signs of rapid heartbeat can occur when eating, having sex, raising the temperature. In the latter case, as practice shows, the number of reductions can increase to eighty. In this case, the proportionality of their increase is observed after raising the temperature to 37 °.

Often a symptom accompanied by low blood pressure, decreased hemoglobin, thyroid disease. In addition, the increase in the frequency of the rhythm is affected by the use of caffeine and alcohol. Often there is a pronounced pattern of rapid heartbeat with abstinence (separation from drinking alcohol).

Many cases of symptom manifestations are normal increases in heart rate. Typically, while the specialist recommends taking sedatives.

However, in patients with cardiovascular disease who have an increased heart rate, treatment is aimed at controlling symptoms or reducing the risk of adverse effects. As available options for therapy, the patient is trained in simple methods of self-cessation or prevention of pathological episodes. It is also possible to prescribe certain medications, whose action is also aimed at stopping or preventing the re-emergence of symptoms. In the case of an increased risk of stroke, blood thinners may be prescribed.
