Life outside the world of cinema

Sergei Bodrov, Jr. was born and raised in a creative family. His father - a well-known director (also Sergey), mother, Valentina Nikolaevna - art critic. In the movie, it seemed to him that the road was laid in advance, but what does an artist who does not know life mean? Entering the MSU Faculty of History, the young man successfully graduated in five years (1994) and entered post-graduate studies. Four years passed and he received his Ph.D., writing a qualifying work on architecture in the Venetian painting of the Renaissance. This should be remembered in connection with the fact that many viewers identify Sergei with the image of "Brother", a boy who served in the army, who came to a peaceful life and "decides questions" mainly by force. With all the virtues of this character, such as courage and honesty, his cap (figuratively speaking) would be too small for Sergei Bodrov, the youngest.

The future actor and director received knowledge of life not only on the academic bench. A school teacher, a confectioner of the Udarnitsa factory, a beach lifeguard (it was in Italy), and then a journalist, is his short track record.

"Prisoner" and "Brothers"

In 1989, Sergei Bodrov, Jr. made his debut on the screen in his father's film "SIR". In this film work, very successful, it was narrated about difficult teenagers who got into a special boarding school. Artists did not want to get a haircut, and then the director drew his own son, who, of course, agreed, and did not regret the hair. Only in almost seven years Sergey got the following role, very serious, in the "Captive of the Caucasus", where he happened to work in tandem with Oleg Menshikov, an excellent actor and a true master. True glory and popular love came after "Brother" (1997) and "Brother-2" (2000). In these films, viewers saw what they had longed for in the murky period of the nineties. The character of Bodrov Jr. became the personification of "good with his fists", his image of a laconic activist was as close to the people as the "Voroshilov shooter" played by Ulyanov. Of course, the plot of revenge is a win-win by itself, but the picture was successful not only because of the exploitation of this artistic device.

Other jobs

In addition to the most famous film works, Sergei had other roles, and all of them turned out to be successful. Paul Pavlikowski in 1998 took the film "Stringer". "East-West", another very good picture of the foreign director (this time the Frenchman Regis Varnier) was released in 1999, it was attended by the magnificent screen masters Catherine Deneuve, Oleg Menshikov, Bogdan Stupka, Tatyana Dogileva and many others. Less than a year before Sergei Bodrov died, he shot his first own film called The Sisters, taking a small role in the episode. This director's debut was triumphant. The picture immediately took first place in the ratings of rentals, she received international recognition as a prize at the Venice Film Festival.

In the same year there was a small role in "Let's do it in a fast way" and serious work in the film "War" directed by Alexei Balabanov. And also - "Bear's Kiss", which again put Sergei, and the project "The Last Hero" on ORT. In general, such activity assumed a rapid rise to the top of glory. And then - a trip to the shooting in the Karmadon gorge. Bodrov did not return from there.

A family

Bodrov's younger wife was actress Svetlana Mikhailova, and this marriage, held in 1987, can surely be called happy. They had a daughter, Olya (1988), and in August 2002, a month before Sergei Bodrov died, and a son named Alexander. I married a young love actor, and at first glance, as I told in my interviews. Parted wife for a short time, a trip to the Caucasus should not take a long time. In North Ossetia, Sergei filmed the movie "Messenger", for which he himself wrote the script, and in which he was going to play the main role.

About how Sergei Bodrov died, today a lot is known, but the moment of his death can only be reconstructed according to the circumstances found out in the course of the investigation. In the early autumn morning of September 20, the group, gathered in the lobby of the hotel, went to full-scale shooting in the mountains. The day did not set at once, there was an upswing ahead, and vehicles had to wait for a long time, and the planned start at 9-00 was prolonged until one in the afternoon. Then, as it turned out later, the shootings still began and continued until about seven in the evening, when it was getting dark. The camera crew of Sergei Bodrov plunged the equipment and set off on the return journey. At quarter-past nine the mudflow covered a huge area, its mass was several million tons of stones, mud, sand and ice, and the speed exceeded 100 km / h. The layer turned out to be thick and reached three hundred meters.

Victims of a natural disaster

On the morning of September 21, the whole country already knew about what disaster had come to the Karmadon gorge. Bodrov and his Moscow group were not the only victims of the disaster. The equestrian theater "Narty" took part in the shooting, tourists from camp sites of enterprises, students and local residents found themselves in the disaster zone. In total, 127 people were missing, which at first were declared missing. Rescue operation began immediately, in its course the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local volunteers found 17 corpses and fragments of bodies. Members of the crew who died with Sergei Bodrov, like himself, have not yet been found. This fact for a long time gave a vague hope and became the basis of many dubious versions of the fact that the actor who is loved by millions of spectators is still alive. Alas, there are no more hopes for this now, thirteen years later.

Memory

The search lasted until February 2004. Theoretically, there was a possibility that the group managed to hide in one of the tunnels dug in the mountains, so first of all they drilled the soil in places where there could be emptiness, but to no avail. Most likely, we will never know about how Sergei Bodrov died. The melting of the formed glacier, according to geologists, will take about twelve years, during this time the remains of the missing people are unlikely to survive. On the mudflow desert, an alder grove has already grown, and next to it a memorial plaque with the names of the dead is erected . The mournful date reminds, in what year Sergey Bodrov and 126 more were lost, in whose death there is nobody to blame, after all such disasters are absolutely unpredictable.
