Wenceslas Square - the heart of Prague

There are many attractive and interesting cities in the world. One of those is the city of Prague. It combines the traditions of three cultures - Czech, Jewish and German. They were passed on from generation to generation for centuries, closely interwoven with each other. The modern capital of the Czech Republic has managed to preserve its medieval charm, which attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. The unique center of Prague is Wenceslas Square. It is a boulevard, whose length reaches 750 meters, and is a favorite place for meetings.

This square is decorated with the equestrian statue of St. Wenceslas, who is considered the patron of the Czech Republic. It was thanks to him that the square received its name in the 19th century. Near the statue lovers appoint each other visits, believing that they will help St. Vaclav.

Wenceslas Square is located in one of the oldest districts of the city. This part of the capital is called the New Place, although it is already more than six centuries old. According to tradition, Emperor Charles IV, after seeing medieval Prague, was fascinated by this city. He decided to build a number of the same and call his New Place. The construction of this part of the capital was begun in 1348. In addition, to the neighboring city became as prosperous as the Old Place, the emperor of all residents of the new city exempted from taxes for 12 years.

Wenceslas Square in Prague has seen many historical events. Thus, in 1948 the working class courageously called upon all to build communism, and already in 1989 an entirely different multi-million crowd of working people demanded that the Communists withdraw from power. Czechs and now mass gather in the square, only now such meetings are of a peaceful nature. They can be caused, for example, by the victory of the national hockey team.

The modern Wenceslas Square still retains the romantic spirit of the Middle Ages, and at the same time it does not lag behind the rapid rhythm of modern life. It is a visiting card of Czech culture and will appeal to any tourist. There are many architectural buildings for lovers of cognitive tourism, and a huge number of shops for shoppers, fashion houses, excellent restaurants and hotels.

In short, here reflects the whole of Prague. Wenceslas Square fully conveys all its greatness. Here you can visit the National Museum, built in the XIX century. This structure is an excellent example of neo-renaissance. No less interesting is the visit to the house of architect Vilya. This building does not cease to amaze tourists with its unique frescos, located on the facade of the building.

Wenceslas Square is just full of interesting places. It is recommended to visit the excellent Koruna mansion. In the same area is located and an old hotel, which is more than 120 years old. Its architecture reflects the traditions of the Czech Republic. It also houses the most popular Titanic restaurant. The building attracts not only tourists, but also local residents who never cease to admire its beauty.

It's interesting to walk around the square even at night, it's always crowded and noisy. Although the area is now allowed to traffic, the city authorities have adopted a project according to which in the near future it will belong only to pedestrians.
