The capital of Tajikistan is Dushanbe

In the southern part of Tajikistan, in the most beautiful Hissar valley, lies the magnificent city of Dushanbe. It is the largest city in the country, with a population of 661100 people. The majority of the population are Tajiks, just over 20% are Uzbeks. The share of the Russian population is 5.1%, and 2.4% are other nationalities. Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan. In the central part of the city there is an artificial lake Komsomolskoe, which feeds the river Dushanbinka, flowing through the city. Its territory is dominated by the continental climate.

Like all cities, the capital of Tajikistan has its own history. Initially there was a small settlement here. It was at the crossroads. Here on Monday the bazaar was organized. It is connected with this and the name of the city, as Monday in Tajik sounds "Dushanbe". Power passed from one source to another, and in 1922 the city was dominated by the Bolsheviks. This year it was proclaimed the capital of the country.

The capital of Tajikistan did not always have a name that we know now. During the reign of Stalin, the name of this settlement was Stalinabad, and after 1961 - again Dushanbe. In 1929, the first railway was built, which gave impetus to the development of the food, textile and electrical industries. In addition, the rapid development of machine-building began. All this led to the growth of the city. Now here is the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, 6 theaters, 8 universities, including the Tajik University, a huge number of museums.

The capital of Tajikistan has a number of other attractions, most of which are located on the main street. It is recommended to start the examination from Sadriddin Aini Square, in the center of which there is a monument to the writer. Around him there are many sculptures depicting characters from his works. The most beautiful place in the city is the square named after the 800th anniversary of the city of Moscow, which is surrounded by plantings of Indian lilacs. In the center is a large fountain.

Another area worthy of attention is Dusti Square, in the central part of which is a monument to Ismail Samani. Among the architectural structures it is worth mentioning the Presidential Palace, located on Putovsky Square, decorated with flowers, fountains and lush avenues. Of particular interest is the Gissar Fortress, which was once the residence of the governor of the Bukhara emir. The walls of this structure have a thickness of up to one meter. Opposite the entrance to the fortress you can see the ancient madrasah (17th century).

But this is not all that can be seen when you come to Tajikistan. Dushanbe has several parks, the most beautiful of which are those located at Komsomolskoye Lake. Not less popular is the Central Botanical Garden, in the collection of which more than 4500 plants.

However, Dushanbe is not the whole of Tajikistan. The nature of the country is something that really deserves attention. There are many rivers and lakes here. The republic's lakes are located mainly in the Pamirs and in the mountains of Central Tajikistan. The largest of them is the Karakul. Lakes Yashilkul and Sarez are formed as a result of mountain collapses and earthquakes.

The country is visited annually by many tourists who like extreme sports. In addition, Tajikistan is the center of mountain tourism and mountaineering. The mountains of this country are picturesque places.
