The Chamber Theater (Cherepovets), whose history dates back to the middle of the 19th century, considers the date of its birth on July 1, 1993. First in the city was an amateur troupe, which included noble gentlemen. The professional theater was opened in 1938. But in 10 years it was closed and until the end of the 20th century it did not exist. And only in 1993 began its revival. Today, the theater has its own building, which was subjected to major repairs 10 years ago. It is equipped with modern equipment. The hall can accommodate up to 438 spectators.

At the theater there is a children's studio. The troupe actively participates in various festivals, goes on tour. In addition to performances of various genres included in the repertoire, concerts, "apartments", conferences, exhibitions and other events are held in the theater. The main director is TG Makarova.

History of the theater

In 1993, the Chamber Theater (Cherepovets) was opened. The Vologda region has long been waiting for this event. The first theater in the city of Cherepovets appeared in the 60s of the 19th century. He was amateur. By 1899 the amateur theater had grown into a music and drama club. Then the drama "Boris Godunov" was staged. In the same year the circle turned into the Theater of Cherepovets Trusteeship for sobriety. The repertoire included not only dramatic, but also musical performances. At the beginning of the 20th century Mikhail Glinka's opera "Life for the Tsar" was staged. The actors were: a doctor, the wife of a court counselor, a prosecutor, a lawyer, a millionaire, a lawyer, princes, a female gymnasium leader, etc. In 1919 professional artists joined the amateur troupe. The theater received its own building, which still lives today. For his creative life, he underwent several reorganizations. Its name changed. And in 1948 the government stopped financing all theatrical companies, transferring them to self-sufficiency. As a result, the Cherepovets Theater worked out its post-season in a year, ceased to exist and was closed for a long 40 years.

The chamber theater (Cherepovets) was revived in 1993. Although the official order to resume his work was signed only in 1998. In the same year, Tatyana Makarova was appointed chief director. His first production of the troupe of the revived theater was presented to the public in November 1997. It was a musical performance "Burning days of Garunsky", based on the play of Lev Zorin. This production was unique in that the director Tatyana Makarova performed in her one eight roles. At that time there were only two actors in the troupe: Tatiana Makarova and Fedor Ghukasyan. Jazz musicians take part in the play. This production is included in the repertoire of the theater so far and is very popular with the viewer. The second performance was the comedy "Dachniy romance" based on the play of B.Ratser and V.Konstantinov. Its premiere took place in 2000. This performance was a social order. And "Stormy days of Garunsky", and "Summer's novel" looked almost the whole city.

A sign of the performance was Matriarchy. This is an experiment of the theater. In this production, all roles, even women, are performed solely by male actors. Scenography "Matriarchy" is amazing and even shocking. The performance uses light effects, emotional coloring is provided by ballet and video. The production was won by the Soros Foundation.

A great role in the life of the theater was played by the director T. Makarova's meeting with the playwright V. Borovitskaya. The play "Varvara Petrovna", staged on her play, provided the theater with a tour in Moscow. The capital met the production with full halls.

Today the theater employs 20 talented professional artists. The repertoire includes performances of different genres.

Reconstruction of the building

The Chamber Theater (Cherepovets) is located in a building that was built in the early 20th century. Initially, there were trading rows in it. The building of the theater is an architectural monument. Reconstruction began in 2003 and lasted 4 years. During the overhaul, the entire structure of the building was reinforced. Another wing was added, which was planned even during the construction in 1914, but was not erected due to lack of material means. Also, the foundation was strengthened. All communications were completely replaced. The auditorium was completely re-planned. The walls were leveled, and the floors were replaced. The theater was equipped with modern systems of ventilation, fire fighting, and video surveillance. The hall is equipped with modern sound and lighting equipment, clothes and stage mechanics, furniture.
