The most popular types of orchids: orchid dendrobium, pafiophyllum and phalaenopsis

Today almost every greenhouse is decorated with orchids. The family of orchids has about 30 thousand natural species and more than 30 thousand varieties, while the number of hybrid species is about 17 million. Orchid means "a flower that came from God." In the people, three kinds of orchids are very popular: dendrobium, pafiophyllum, phalaenopsis.

Orchid dendrobium is widespread in the tropical and subtropical regions of Australia, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Japan and is one of the largest in the family Orchidaceae (orchids).

Plants of this species are very diverse. Their stems, the length of which is up to two or more meters, can have a cylindrical, spindle-shaped, reed-like shape. Most often, the leaves of the dendrobium are located two-row along the entire length of the stem. Orchid dendrobium has a variety of flowers, differing in color, shape, and, of course, size.

Since the orchid dendrobium is a monsoon climate plant characterized by a change in the rainy and dry seasons, they have a well-defined rest period. In the spring-summer period, these plants need to provide a moist and warm climate. After the formation of pseudobulb watering must be reduced. Thus, we force the plants to go into a period of rest. Orchid dendrobium is a light-loving plant, however, in hot, hot summer days, it needs light shading. Orchids grow better in small dishes.

When the technology of growing dendrobium is violated, it is easily affected by phytophthora, as well as aphids, thrips, chervets and spider mites. Most often reproduction of dendrobiums occurs by cuttings and division. Division of bushes is carried out not more often than in three or four years, apical shoots are removed annually.

Orchid pafiodipelum has the shape of a shoe, so it is also called "Venus shoe". This plant is the most popular due to the original flowers and a long flowering period (up to a month and a half). The homeland of pafiopediylums inhabiting humid subtropical and tropical forests is India, China, Nepal, New Guinea, Philippines. Most often they are found on loose, humus-rich soil. Most representatives of the genus Pafiophyllum grow well enough at home. The leaves of the plant are collected in a two-sided outlet. Flowers have a bright, intense color, their size varies from 5 to 13 cm in diameter. Pafiopedilium are the shadow and moisture-loving orchids (air humidity from 40 to 80%).

Orchid butterfly or phalaenopsis. This species of orchids belongs to hybrids. Phalaenopsis hybrids are the most unpretentious orchids, therefore they are very well adapted for home growing. They perfectly fit the climate of our home (lighting, humidity, temperature and air circulation).

The phalaenopsis orchid has one stem with a small number of leaves. Flowers faleopsisa represented by a wide range of colors, their number depends on the type of orchid. Orchid butterfly blossoms several times a year. The main difference between hybrid phaleopsis and other species of orchids is that it has flat, round flowers and a three-lobed lip.

Phalaenopsis, in principle, like other species of orchids, are attacked by pests. This is facilitated by improper care and maintenance of the plant (temperature and humidity). Parasitizing ticks (flat and arachnoid red mites) is manifested as the appearance of white spots on the lower surface of the leaves. Plants are treated with insecticides (fufan, phytoverm, actellic) 3-4 times with an interval of 10 days.

With a single defeat of the plant, the worm is removed with a tampon and alcohol. After that, the orchid is treated with a soap alkaline solution.

Viral diseases are manifested in the form of a dashed mosaic of leaves. If a pathology is found, the plant is destroyed.
