The plant has a pubescent erect stem, reaching a height of about 50 cm (depending on the environment). Gravilat perennial has three - and five-lobed cauline leaves. Flowers large, single, light yellow shades. The flowering period of the plant is May-June.

Gravilat has many years of fruit, representing a prefabricated seed, the seeds of which end with a small crochet. The natural area of the plant is Ukraine, Belarus, part of Russia and some areas of Western Siberia. Medicinal raw materials - aboveground and underground parts of a plant. In young shoots of gravel, there is carotene, tannins and ascorbic acid. Rhizomes and roots of medicinal plants include in their chemical composition tannins, glycoside of heine, essential oil, resins and starch, bitter substances. Gravilat has many years of healing properties, with great success in traditional folk medicine. Curative decoctions and infusions on its basis have hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, wound-healing, antiseptic and astringent properties.

The chemical composition of its root contains resins, carbohydrates, tannides, starch, bitter and tannins, glycine glycolide, essential oils, organic acids.

Due to the unique chemical composition, the river gravel has taken an important place in folk medicine for the treatment of hemorrhoids, uterine bleeding, malaria, allergies, stomach diseases and rheumatism.
