Karachay-Cherkessia is a subject of the Russian Federation. The city of Cherkessk is the capital. It was located in the south of our state. In the vicinity of the city you can admire the clean lakes with crystal clear water, on the green mountains with wild forests. A bit of history

Not a very large city in the southern part of Russia called Cherkessk, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. It is on the right side of the Kuban River, in the Ciscaucasian zone.

The city appeared relatively recently, at the beginning of 1825, and had a different name. It was named in honor of Batal-Pasha, the head of the military detachment in Turkey. After a while, or rather in 1934, the city changed its name to Sulimov. However, three years later, there were changes. Their result was a new name - Yezhovo-Cherkessk. But the story does not end there. Two years later Yezhov, the People's Commissar, was arrested, and this naturally led to the fact that the first part of the city's name was decided to be removed. And it turned out the city of Cherkessk. And this is how we know it at the present time.

But the war is still going on because of the name of the capital of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, which flares up between Circassians and Karachais. This is due to the fact that the latter dream that someday the capital city will be called Karachaevsky.

Climate of the city of Cherkessk

The Karachay-Cherkess capital has a fairly warm climate. For example, in summer the air temperature exceeds 38 degrees with a plus sign. And because of the scorching sun, residents simply can not stay in the street for long, otherwise you can get severe burns or sunstroke, so they often "cool" near city fountains or in parks. Most of them are Russians, Ukrainians, Circassians, Karachais, Ossetians and even Greeks. At the same time, almost 40% of all citizens living in Cherkessk follow the laws of Islam. And with every new day Muslims are becoming more and more, including the Russians are accepting the Islamic faith. The head of the Karachaevo-Circassian republic is appointed by the representation of the president of the Russian Federation by the parliament itself.

The executive power is represented by the government. The chairman of this meeting is appointed directly by the head of the Karachayevo-Circassian republic. And the consent of the People's Assembly is necessary.

Scenic attractions of the city of Cherkessk

The capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic is incredibly beautiful because of its nature, it seems to drown in the emerald green of trees. And multi-storey buildings alternate with private sectors and small houses on one or two floors. The streets here are clean and well-groomed, it is often possible to meet various monuments, galleries, museums. And also in the city there are a lot of different cozy cafes and restaurants.

But one of the most picturesque places in the capital, while it is also an important cultural object in the territory of such an association as the Karachaevo-Cherkess Republic (Russia), is considered a "Green Island" - a park of recreation and culture. The huge area of the wonderful park is 89 hectares - the largest zone in the southern part of Russia. Most recently, namely in 2013, there was a reconstruction, and the "Green Island" received a second life. Now the park offers its visitors picturesque fountains and ponds of various sizes, pretty alleys, a well-groomed embankment, comfortable benches, flower beds and vases with chic colors. And in the heart of a large pond there is a small cozy cafe. Also in the park are attractions and the point of issue of water bicycles for hire. In addition, on the "Green Island" is an amphitheater for 1060 seats, where they built a modern hall for concerts.

For children in the park built a wonderful alley "Lukomorye", which is located right at the entrance to the right, it will be interesting to children of any age. For small visitors, a small children's café, fun pavilions, a children's playground, little shops decorated with little animals, cartoon characters and fairy tales were built here.

In addition to the park in the city, you can stroll to the City Hall, next to which in 2009 a stunning dancing fountain with light music was built. In the evening there are spectacular shows performed by the fountain. A lot of jets of water "dance" for a variety of music, while the building is illuminated and shimmered with a variety of colors. On such a fairy show usually gather crowds of tourists and local townspeople.

Lovers of architecture in the city can see various mosques and cathedrals. You can walk to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, which is the oldest temple in the capital, it was built in the beginning of 1969. The next no less magnificent building was built only in late 2013. It is the Cathedral Mosque. It is located in the Jubilee district.
