Symptoms of endocervicitis. What is this disease?
Endocervicitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the cervical (cervical) canal of the uterus.
Causes
Endocervicitis, as a rule, is not a separate disease, but is accompanied by other gynecological pathologies of inflammatory and non-inflammatory nature. These can be diseases not only the cervix, but also the vagina, appendages.
Clinical picture and methods of diagnosis
Sick women complain about vaginal discharge from the purulent nature. Less likely to attach drawing pains over the bosom. Thus, it can be noted that there are no specific symptoms specific to endocervicitis. What does it mean? It is necessary to carefully differentiate with other diseases for the selection of adequate treatment.
Allocations from the cervical canal are subjected to bacteriological and bacterioscopic studies, due to which the pathogen is identified, appropriate medication is selected. In addition, a cytological examination of a smear taken from the cervical canal is performed, which makes it possible to differentiate this pathology with precancerous and cancerous conditions.
With inadequate treatment, the disease can go to chronic endocervicitis. Symptoms are the same, but it is already an inflammation of not only the mucous, but also deeper tissues, leading to the development of cervicitis. Complications of this pathology are erosions, cysts, cervical canal deformity.
Principles of treatment
What will be needed if endocervicitis is detected? Treatment. Candles, pills, douches or baths - all this is selected and appointed by the doctor. But treatment must necessarily be comprehensive. In acute stage resort to antibacterial therapy, depending on which particular pathogen is detected, and taking into account its sensitivity to antibiotics. In case of fungal infection, antifungal drugs are used, while for antiviral drugs, antiviral drugs are used. No less importance is attached to the use of immunomodulating agents and vitamins.
It is necessary to know at local use of antiseptic and anti-inflammatory solutions by means of trays and irrigation for the treatment of endocervicitis, that this can be done only in a chronic process. Otherwise, this will only aggravate the situation and lead to the development of an ascending infection.
In chronic course, the presence of concomitant pathology of the cervix, changes in its anatomical structure after the elimination of infection, surgical treatment is indicated. This can be cryodestruction, laser therapy, conization of the cervix, radiosurgery and other methods.
For the prevention of endocervicitis, timely treatment of infectious diseases associated with the female genital area is recommended.
