Replacement of passport in case of damage: order of registration

Replacement of the passport in case of damage to this document is a mandatory procedure. Unfortunately, no one is immune from this. Passport can suffer from the hands of small children, pets, it can accidentally pour out water and it will become unusable.

Damage to your passport

Quite often a person can not determine whether it is possible to continue using the document or not. There are situations when a citizen believes that everything is in order with him, and yet the passport is refused to accept as an identity card in all institutions and organizations. So, we will determine when it is necessary to replace the passport in case of spoilage:

1. Violation of the integrity of the document. This refers to the lack of pages or parts, covers, photos, torn, worn or damaged sheets.

2. Visible spots and other damage caused by fire, chemical aggressive substances or other factors that led to unreadable parts of the document.

3. The passport changes if it has third-party records, marks or drawings.

Most often, problems arise because of the third point. For example, the child put a small line on the blank page - and everything, the document by law is already considered invalid. Proving the reverse is useless, therefore, if you notice foreign records, it is better to immediately exchange it in order to avoid further problems.

Penalty for passport damage

Replacement of the passport in case of spoilage is not always accompanied by penal sanctions. In fact, administrative punishment is imposed only in case of intentional damage to the document, and it is very difficult to prove this. Unless you in the statement specify that they have spoiled the passport deliberately. In this case, at the discretion of the employee, you can receive an oral warning or order to pay a fine in the amount of 100-300 rubles.

In the event that the fine was discharged illegally, you can file a complaint with the FMS officer to his direct supervisor, to a higher authority (FMS) or to a court.
