As everyone has probably guessed, the subject of this article will be the construction of a reservoir using PVC film.

PVC film for the pond is, one might say, the golden mean between cheap polyethylene film and expensive butyl rubber, but the quality is much higher than the first and almost not inferior to the latter. Working with the film is easy, but you need a certain accuracy (film after all!), Compliance with certain rules and the sequence of work when constructing a pond.

Stages of work on the construction of a reservoir on the site

1. Selecting a location. The pond is a closed ecosystem with natural purification. You can install filter pumps, but again, for large areas of water bodies, but for now it is a small, not requiring a special expense, a place to rest. Place the pond in a place protected from the wind and bright sun, so that leaves and fallen fruit from trees do not fall into it.

To determine the amount of film that will be needed, measure the length and width of the rectangle into which you can enter the prepared pit. The width of the film web will be equal to the width of this rectangle, to which you must add the depth of the pond multiplied by 2, plus another 1 m. This stock is necessary for the secure anchoring of the ends of the waterproofing on the shore. The length of the material is calculated in exactly the same way. The PVC film for reservoirs is connected by hot welding or glue.

6. Filling with water and registration of the coastal zone of the reservoir. Water should be changed twice a year. At this stage, everyone can feel like a landscape designer and create a recreation area where it will be calm and comfortable. Iris, reeds, hosts, astilba, bathing-house, catchment and other are suitable for plants.

Acting on such a plan, you can create a quite nice pond on the site. It should be noted that the PVC film for the pond is an eco-friendly material. It tolerates frosts well, does not rot and is resistant to damage. In the reservoirs arranged in this way, the fish live perfectly. Butyl rubber coatings can be used for the pond, they are more expensive, but with a longer service life (up to 50 years due to their ductility and strength). They are suitable for creating ponds of arbitrary shape with a raised bottom and steep slopes.
