Postinor: analogues, contraindications

In every woman's medicine cabinet, whether she uses contraceptive pills regularly or takes them from time to time, there must be emergency (post-emergency) contraception: "Postinor" or "Ginepristone", "Escapel", "Genital" drugs.

In fact, tablets "Postinor", its analogs can not be considered a real contraceptive, because the principle of their action is radically different from the effect of conventional contraceptive drugs.

First, postcoital means do not allow the eggs to leave the ovary. Secondly, if it does happen, interfere with the attachment of the ovule (already fertilized) to the wall of the uterus and continue to develop. Thirdly, they interfere with the fertilization of the egg. Finally, if the pregnancy still occurs, the drug "Postinor" can cause medical abortion.

Classic drugs for contraception simply prevent the egg from leaving the ovary. Accordingly, if there is no egg, there can be no fertilization.

Some specialists on the sidelines call tablets "Postinor", analogues of this drug and other means of postoicital contraception "drugs for widows", implying occasional use of the drug.

  • Continue to take these drugs can not be for many reasons. With constant use changes the structure of the endometrium, there are serious side reactions from many organs.
  • There is an addiction, the effectiveness of the drug is reduced.
  • Uterine bleeding may begin.

The question arises: "If the medicine can not be taken constantly, when is it better to use it?" The answer is simple: "In case of emergency". That's why drugs of this kind are popularly called "the morning after". What are these emergency cases?

The drug "Postinor", analogues of this remedy can be taken after sexual intercourse within 72 hours. Naturally, the more time passes, the lower the effectiveness of the impact. However, even after 72 hours there is a 58% chance that the drug will work, and pregnancy will not occur.

What are these emergency cases:

  • rape;
  • Unplanned unprotected intercourse;
  • Rare sexual contacts (no more than 1 time between monthly);
  • Condom breakage or other unforeseen situations.

Women often wonder what is best: postinor or escaped. The principle of action of these contraceptives is the same, but the drug "Postinor" belongs to earlier, not so well balanced compounds. After receiving it every second woman has nausea. It can adversely affect the development of pregnancy, if it does occur.

The drug "Escapel" was created later, it has fewer side effects, and it can be consumed within 96 hours after the act. The funds "Postinor" this term is only 72 hours.

To the question: Postinor or ginepristone is more effective, physicians respond more often that all preparations of later generations are more effective, less harmful. However, in the case of the drug "Ginepriston" this truth does not work. Just like the pill "Postinor", it can cause nausea or vomiting, spotting, a violation of the cycle. And from that, and from another contraceptive there can be hives, dizziness, hyperthermia, weakness.

That is why it is absolutely not recommended to drink contraceptives for emergency (postcoital) care, such as the drug "Postinor", its analogs without the advice of a doctor. This can lead to irreparable consequences.

In addition, it is important to always remember that all such drugs have many contraindications. They are not recommended:

  • With renal and adrenal insufficiency;
  • With hepatic insufficiency;
  • With lung diseases;
  • With extragenital pathology;
  • At thoracal feeding.

If an indispensable reception of a postoicital contraceptive is required, it is better to do this on the advice of a doctor.
