The preparation "Prospan" - syrup and effervescent tablets from a cough

Composition of the medicinal product

It consists of an extract of dry leaves of ivy, which allows to remove bronchial spasm and improve the separation of sputum, making it less viscous.

Auxiliary ingredients in the preparation "Prospan" (syrup) - anhydrous citric acid, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, sorbitol solution 70%, cherry flavor, purified water.

Auxiliary elements: tablets contain anhydrous citric acid, sodium saccharin, glyceroloxide stearate, anhydrous sodium carbonate, sodium hydrogencarbonate, sodium cyclamate, mannitol, simethicone, medium chain triglycerides, flavor.

Tablets and syrup "Prospan" do not contain alcohol.

Indications for use:

  • Treatment of respiratory diseases;
  • Disease of the respiratory system, accompanied by a strong cough with hard-to-remove thick sputum;
  • Chronic and acute bronchitis;
  • Syndrome of bronchial obstruction;
  • bronchial asthma.

A course of treatment

The attending physician in an individual mode prescribes the course of taking the drug. It depends on the nature of the symptoms of the disease and the course of the pathological process. The duration of therapy is at least a week. To achieve a lasting effect after eliminating the signs of the disease, treatment with the drug "Prospan" (syrup) is prolonged for 2-3 days.

The preparation "Prospan" (syrup) does not contain dyes, sugar and alcohol, but 30% ethanol is used to get the active ingredient of the ivy extract. In the drying process, it completely evaporates from the extract. For the sake of precaution, do not recommend giving children up to four years. In addition, no studies have been conducted to determine the effect of the drug on women during pregnancy and mothers breastfeeding. Therefore, it should be used only in accordance with the doctor's prescription.

Side effects

Cough syrup "Prospan" is well tolerated by children, in rare cases can cause laxative effect (upset of the stool). This is due to the content of sorbitol in the preparation. If you exceed the dosage more than 3 times, you may experience diarrhea or nausea. In this case, symptomatic therapy is performed.

Cough syrup and "Prospan" tablets should be stored at a temperature of 22-25 degrees.
