Julia was a long-awaited child of her parents. And so, as expected, she was born on the eve of the magical holiday of the New Year. The famous gymnast appeared on December 31 in 1978. At that time her parents lived in Moscow and could not rejoice in their happiness. The girl grew very active child. Since her birth, Julia's mother has dreamed that her daughter will perform and take first place in all sports competitions. When the baby was 4 years old, she first put on skates and stood on the ice. Despite the successes that little Yulia was trying to achieve on the ice, fate still managed a little differently.

In order not to miss the opportunity, it was decided to send the girl to gymnastics classes.

Remembering that time today, Barsukova says that she is very glad that then her life turned this way. After all, in gymnastics the girl found her calling and fully revealed her abilities.

Victory of a young gymnast

Did Yulia Barsukova achieve high results? Gymnastics for the athlete was quite simple and interesting. The girl was flexible enough and diligent. She always achieved the set goals and never stopped. A month later, it turned out that Barsukova is much stronger and more stubborn than her classmates. It is for this reason that the girl is decided to be transferred to study at a special sports school, in which she studied until her majority. In this school, Julia's mentor is V. Silaeva. When the question arose of how to take the girl to the national team in rhythmic gymnastics, Yulia had to face many unpleasant situations. After all, the coach of the team I. Wiener did not particularly want to take and train the girl. Many believed that Yulia was included in the squad only because she was asked by Silaeva herself. Fortunately for everyone, a year later the relationship between the gymnast and the new coach is getting better. To this day, athletes are very well communicate and often recall the past.

Intensive competitions

What results did Julia Barsukova achieve? Rhythmic gymnastics was her main occupation in life, and, having joined the team, the girl began to train even more. She did not want to upset her coach and tried to prove that she was not in vain in this team.

Since 1998, Barsukova has participated in many tournaments and competitions. Having reached the finals of the main Grand Prix, the gymnast was able to occupy several places that were among the top ten. Let the result was not victorious for Julia, she did not give up and continued active training.

A year later, in 1999, at the Russian Championship Barsukova took 3rd place. She excels at performing numbers with a ball, rope and other shells in the gym. It was from this moment on that the young gymnast's sporting career began to go up steadily.

Rivalry or friendship?

Barsukova performed at many competitions, but each time she managed to occupy only 2 and 3 places. Her teammate Alina Kabaeva became the reason for this. The girl at that time was considered one of the strongest gymnasts, which no one could defeat.

Despite this, the girls very well communicated with each other. As Julia herself says, they did not attach importance to who took what place, because they competed in the same team. Victory and defeat, they are always divided equally.

At one of the World Championships Kabaeva does not perform well. During the execution of her program, she makes several mistakes, which in the end cost her victory. This was a great chance for Barsukova, who confidently took advantage of it. Having worked perfectly well, Julia won the World Championship.

After the girl performs well at the Olympics, she decides to end her career in rhythmic gymnastics. At that time Barsukova was only 22 years old.

Attempts to return to the ice
