One of the most notable TV personalities and writers-satirists of post-Soviet Russia is Viktor Shenderovich, whose biography represents an example of the successful career of a representative of the Russian intelligentsia. Over the years, he managed to be a theater actor, a critic, and a columnist. Recently, Viktor Shenderovich focused on political activities, being one of the key persons of the Russian liberal opposition.

early years

August 15, 1958 in the capital of the USSR was born Viktor Shenderovich. The family of the future journalist has deep Jewish roots. His father worked as an engineer, and his mother was a teacher. On the outlook of the future oppositionist was strongly influenced by the fact that his grandfather Evsei Samuilovich was twice repressed for political reasons. His parents were typical representatives of the Soviet intelligentsia. His father was published in the major magazines "Crocodile" and "Literary Gazette".

Being a pupil of the 10th grade, Viktor Shenderovich was noticed by Konstantin Raikin and got to study at Oleg Tabakov's theater school. This fact determined the fate of the adolescent. In 1975 he entered directing and after 5 years successfully defended the diploma of the Moscow Institute of Culture and Arts.

After training, Viktor goes on to serve in the army. In the future, he said that it was the service that gave him many stories, which he embodied in his satirical works. Until 1990, Shenderovich worked in GITIS, where he not only taught stage skills, but also put his own pictures. So, in 1988, on the satirical story of Victor, his speech was created by Gennady Khazanov. However, the peak of the director's career fell on the 1990s.

The first years of the "Puppet"

Being familiar with the popular playwright Grigori Gorin, Viktor Shenderovich was invited in 1994 to write the script in a new show called "Dolls". According to the idea of the creators, the program should ridicule the pressing problems of the new Russian society, and the protagonists of the stories were figures of politicians created from papier-mache.

"Dolls" quickly became one of the most popular shows of Russian television. The issues written under the scenario of Shenderovich were so acute and topical that the NTV channel was constantly attacked by offended critics. So, in 1995, Attorney General Ilyushenko initiated a lawsuit against the company's management for the "At the bottom" scene, presented in the next issue of the show. In it, with the easy hand of Shenderovich, society's poverty was exposed, and politicians were represented as homeless. The leadership of NTV gathered a press conference on this matter. The role of the defender of the TV program went to Viktor Shenderovich. It was from this moment on that he began to be perceived by Russian society as the creator of the most popular television program. A year later, the lawsuit against NTV was closed for lack of corpus delicti.

Career peak

In 1996, the project "Dolls" was awarded the "TEFI" award in the nomination "The Best Satirical Show". Today many people remember this project as one of the most successful in the history of domestic television.

In parallel with the main work, Shenderovich begins to try himself as a TV presenter. He launches the projects "Total" and "Free cheese", which quickly fell in love with the domestic audience for the urgency and sharpness of opinion.

The turning point in his career was 2000. After Vladimir Putin came to power, the "Dolls" showed a video in which the new President was shown in a pejorative light. As the experts note, Putin did not forgive such an attitude, and one year later one of the most successful television projects of our time was closed, and the management of the NTV television company completely changed.

Policy

After the "Puppet" was closed, Viktor Shenderovich Focused on working as a director of TV-6, but a year later the Ministry of Press demanded to introduce a number of censorship restrictions and close the transfer of "Total". Shenderovich refused to obey, then the channel was revoked a license. Victor begins to cooperate with Radio Liberty and the foreign television channel RTVi.

Shenderovich took the interest of public authorities as a personal insult to Putin. Probably, that's why he hit in opposition activities. Since 2004, he has been a member of the 2008 Committee headed by Garry Kasparov.

In 2005, Viktor Shenderovich tried to enter the State Duma as a representative of the liberal opposition. He ran for the University District of Moscow, but gained about 20% of the vote. After the failure, he goes into street politics, takes an active part in mass rallies, comes out with single pickets. His name stands on line 7 under the manifesto "Putin must go." Today the journalist is one of the key figures of the non-systemic opposition.
