Jewish Easter is one of the main holidays in Israel

The Jewish Easter is one of the oldest holidays, the history of which goes back to the depths of millennia. The Jews themselves call it Pesach, which in Hebrew means "to pass by" or "pass". Answering the question, when the Jewish Easter is celebrated in Israel, it should be noted that it is celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Nisan, but all dates of the Jewish calendar are floating, and therefore, according to the Julian style, a memorable event can fall on different numbers, depending on the specific of the year.

History : the holiday is associated with a historical event, described in detail in the second book of the Torah, which in the Russian tradition is called "Exodus." It is a biblical legend about the slave life of Jews in Egypt, the persecution of a small people by Pharaoh and his priests, and about the subsequent release. The concept of "pass" is associated with the command of God to anoint the door jambs with the blood of the sacrificial lamb, so that the angel of death could pass the Jewish houses and kill only the first-born of the Egyptians.

Researchers are convinced that the roots of Pesach should be sought in two archaic and already forgotten agricultural holidays. One of them is associated with a new breed of cattle, when the Jews were to sacrifice one lamb without visible defects, and the other - with the first harvest. Collecting barley, people completely destroyed the old bread preserved in the house and baked from the grains of a new crop of flat cakes, which were called "matzas".

The significance of the holiday : such holidays in Israel as Pesach received not only a pronounced religious significance, but also another key moment, which modern Jews often forget. So, essentially the Jewish Passover was a turning point in the formation of a single nation and the subsequent national identification of Jews as a separate ethnos.

Before the exodus described in the Torah, the slaves were ordinary subjects of the pharaoh, although they retained some distinctiveness and religious specificity with respect to the rest of the inhabitants of Egypt. After leaving the territory of a powerful country, the Jews led by the leader Moses became a real people with their hierarchy and institutions, and after the transition to the Promised Land they managed to found their own state, build a single temple to serve the Most High and create the first royal dynasty in their history.

Celebration : Jewish Easter is traditionally celebrated for eight days, and for each day not only certain religious rituals, but also the corresponding acts of believers are peculiar. During the ceremony, called "Seder", each meal on the table symbolizes any episodes related to the exodus from Egypt. For example, matzo, baked in the form of thin and flat cakes, is associated with an unleavened test that the Jews had to take with them in a hurry when they were forced to flee from the pursuit of the troops of the pharaoh.

Mandatory dishes include a mixture of nuts and apples, a cup of salt water, horseradish or bitter herb. They serve as a reminder of how the ancestors of modern Jews had to mold clay bricks on the construction of pyramids, shed tears and feel bitterness from slavish life and complete lack of rights. The Jewish Passover is not only a feast, every meal is accompanied by a certain set of blessings and prayers, as well as by reading psalms.

At the end of the ceremony, every time the phrase sounds: "Next year - in Jerusalem!", Which is associated with the end of "dispersion" among the rest of the people and return to the Promised Land. The main religious rituals are held in the synagogues, the rabbi reads the Song of Songs, and all believers are sinking into the joyful and festive atmosphere, who must sing and dance, giving praise to the Most High.
