Alexey Isaev, historian: biography, books

Isaev Alexey Valerievich is a famous Russian publicist and writer, whose work is always popular and, without exaggeration, have undeniable value. To a greater extent, the author writes on military-historical topics. Virtually all of his work is devoted to the study of ambiguous moments during the conduct of the Second World War.

Ambiguous work of the publicist

Alexei Isaev is a historian who has published many books about the war. His most famous works were books about Georgy Zhukov, as well as publications in which he debunked the myths created in the works of Viktor Suvorov.

Aleksey Valerievich Isayev, whose reviews about the books are sometimes ambiguous, quite often fall under criticism for not allowing a profile historical education to allow himself to reassess the most important historical events. Despite such attacks, there are loyal readers who are eagerly awaiting his new publications.

Biographical information

Alexei Isaev, whose biography began in Uzbekistan, was born in 1974. He spent his childhood in Tashkent. Since 1981, he studied at the local city school No. 190. Then the Isaev family moved to Moscow, where Alexey continued his studies at Moscow School No. 179.

Higher education the future publicist received at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. Isaev chose the faculty of cybernetics and studied at the department of system analysis. In 1997, he successfully completed his studies.

Since 2000, Aleksei Isaev, a historian without a profile education, has been actively studying documents in the main Central Archive of the Russian Federation. He also worked in the State Military Archives of the Russian Federation. For three years, since 2007, Alexei Isaev worked at the Institute of Military History under the Ministry of Defense. And in 2012 he became a candidate of historical sciences, defending his thesis on the topic of conducting military operations by the South and South-Western fronts of the USSR in 1941.

At the moment, Alexei Isaev continues to actively engage in scientific and literary activities. In addition, he works as an engineer in the telecommunications field.

The origin of interest in history

In his interviews, Alexei says that a serious interest in history as a whole and in various historical events that are not always interpreted in accordance with reality, he was born after watching the film "Hot Snow". Also from the words of the publicist it follows that very strongly on the decision to become a military historian influenced in his time his acquaintance with Svirin Mikhail Nikolayevich - the domestic historian of technology. After graduating from the institute, Isaev Alexei Valerievich began to work actively in various military archives.

In 2004, the Yauza publishing house published the first works of Isayev as an author. His debut book was devoted to criticism of the author writing about the war under the pseudonym Victor Suvorov. The second book, published in the same as the first, in 2004, was "From Dubno to Rostov", a work about battles in Ukraine, which took place in 1941.

Bibliography of the publicist

Alexei Isaev, whose books are not published in large editions, has a number of his devoted readers. Basically, they are fans of history and a non-standard interpretation of known facts. In different periods of time Aleksei Isaev released such works:

  • "When the surprise was gone. (History of the Second World War, which we did not know). "

Myths debunked by the works of a publicist

Under the criticism of Isaev, the works of VB Rezun, who wrote about the Second World under the pseudonym Victor Suvorov, were the first to fall. In addition, much work has been done by the publicist to restore little-known facts about German aviation, as well as about the controversial issues in the conduct of air battles between fascists and allied forces.

Aleksei Isaev mainly tries to dispel the myths about the war, which were once circulated by the Soviet authorities and popularized with the help of powerful propaganda and films that were published in mass screenings.

The Stalin Blitzkrieg

The legendary offensive of the Soviet troops and the triumph of the Red Army, called the Stalin Blitzkrieg, was also investigated in detail by Aleksei Isaev. Operation Bagration was one of the main topics for his study, which the historian devoted a lot of time.

In his works, the publicist examines in detail the little-known causes of the German defeat and talks about a series of previously unsubstantiated Soviet failures that preceded the conduct of one of the most successful maneuver operations for the whole of the Second World War.

Destruction of aviation legend

It is known that the success of military operations largely depends on aviation. In his works, this man studies in sufficient detail the history of the air forces of both fascist Germany and the USSR Air Force. Alexei Isaev wrote a lot about the 54th Luftwaffe squadron and, in general, about the peculiarities of the fighter aviation of the Third Reich.

One of the statements that Isayev tries to refute his works is the statement in the literature and films that the victory over Germany and the complete destruction of enemy troops, including aviation, belongs to the USSR completely. Referring to a number of archival documents, Aleksei Valerevich states that in the greater part, the Allies, namely the British Air Force , were engaged in the destruction of the Luftwaffe . Soviet troops entered Berlin with honor, destroyed the Wehrmacht, but they did not miss the opportunity to attribute to themselves the merits of British fighters.

The lie about the complete destruction of Soviet aircraft on the first day

Almost all Soviet history textbooks contained information that Germany had attacked the USSR and in a matter of minutes completely crushed the aircraft that had not expected an attack. Because of the lightning attack of the Nazis, Soviet aircraft did not have time to rise into the air and turned into debris, falling under the attack of German bombers, while on the ground.

Isaev writes that the Soviet leadership did not quite correctly illuminate this situation. In fact, the complete destruction of Soviet aircraft took place not in a matter of minutes, but continued throughout June 22. German bombers for several hours sometimes committed 8 raids on the same Soviet airbase.

As a result of such attacks, the Southwestern Front of the USSR lost about 16% of its aircraft, and the Western - about 70% of aviation. To say that the Air Force was completely crushed in a few minutes wrong. The surviving aircraft took an active part in air battles in the border areas, the battles were very intense. The further defeat of the USSR and the subsequent losses were the result of a loss in air battles, and were not a consequence of the fact that the aircraft were destroyed on the ground without even being able to take off.

Hidden miscalculations of intelligence

For a long time, the reasons for the defeat of the Soviet Union at the first stages of the German invasion were believed to be that our troops remained unconnected on the first day. Aleksei Isaev, a historian who studied this issue, refutes such statements. He says that many documents of that period confirm the connection with our army.

There are recorded confirmations that on this day the Soviet communication delegates moved around their territory with the help of trains and armored cars. According to archival records, on the fateful day of June 22, all information was transmitted normally, just the Soviet troops underestimated the threat. The fact that on the 22nd day not all the necessary information reached the waiting time on time, it is rather an oversight of intelligence than a technical reason for the lack of communication.

Unfounded criticism of Stalin

Each era has the ability to rewrite history in its own way and treat certain facts at its discretion. The odious personality of Stalin was no exception. A man whose worship by the Soviet people during the war is difficult to underestimate, after his death began to be sharply criticized. Given the authoritarian style of government, terrible repression and the legendary purges, this criticism is, of course, justified.

In his books, Isaev stands in defense of Stalin as commander in chief of the Soviet troops and refutes accusations against him, which began to appear during the Khrushchev era. Rumors began circulating that on June 22 Stalin was so much discouraged by the German attack that he had a stupor. There was a version that he, in complete misunderstanding of what was happening, went to his dacha. There, allegedly, Yosif Vissarionovich spent several days, and all this time he refused to make any decisions.

Aleksey Isayev in his publications completely refutes this version, since there are archival documents with the signature of Stalin, dated both on June 22nd and the subsequent days of the beginning of the war. One of the main decisions taken by him on the first day of the German attack was the signing of a decree on urgent mobilization. Initially, it was planned to call about 3.2 million people. Proceeding from the decision taken by Stalin in the middle of the day on June 22, this figure was significantly increased. People of the 14th age were recruited into the army, and such a vast military appeal turned out to be fatal. It is known that both fascists and allies were struck by the endless human resource that the Soviet Union used to obtain the long-awaited victory.
