We will also provide you with instructions on how to use the medication, give information on the form of release, adverse reactions, composition, contraindications, price and so on.

Composition, packaging, form of release

The analogue of "Ketanov" and the self-presented remedy can have completely different forms of release. The purpose depends on the nature of the pain, the location of their location and the condition of the patient.

Currently, the drug "Ketanov" is available in two different forms. Let's consider each of them in more detail.

  • The tablets covered with a cover. The active ingredient is ketorolac tromethamine. As for the auxiliary components, they include corn starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and colloidal silicon dioxide. The film coating of tablets includes hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, purified water, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide and talc purified. It should be noted that such an analogue of "Ketanov" as "Ketorolac" contains the same active substance. The considered preparation goes on sale in aluminum blisters, which are placed in a pack of cardboard. In one package can be from ten to one hundred tablets.
  • Solution for injections "Ketanov". The injections, analogues of which will be presented below, also contain an active substance such as ketorolac tromethamine. In addition, the solution includes in its composition and auxiliary components in the form of sodium chloride, water for injection, disodium edetate, ethanol and sodium hydroxide. The drug goes on sale in ampoules of one milliliter. In a cardboard box there can be five or ten ampoules.

Pharmacodynamic properties of an anesthetic

What are the pharmacodynamic properties of this drug and its analog? "Ketanov" (pills and injections) has a pronounced analgesic effect. The drug has moderate antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.

According to experts, the principle of action of this medication is associated with the inhibition (non-selective) activity of the enzymes COX-2 and COX-1. This process occurs in peripheral tissues. This effect causes inhibition of biosynthesis of PG, that is modulators of thermoregulation, pain sensitivity and inflammation.

The use of "Ketanov" tablets or the administration of an intramuscular solution promotes the formation of a racemic mixture of [-] S- and [+] R-enantiomers. By the way, the analgesic effect of the drug is due only to the [-] S-form.

It should be specially noted that this medication does not inhibit breathing, does not affect opioid receptors, does not have anxiolytic and sedative effect and does not cause dependence.

What do I need to know before taking this medicine or its analog? "Ketanov" (pills and injections) on the strength of its analgesic effect is comparable to that with morphine. According to experts, this remedy is significantly superior to all other non-steroid drugs.

After ingestion or intramuscular injection, the analgesic effect is noted in an hour and half an hour, respectively. The maximum effect of the drug is achieved in 60-120 minutes.

Pharmacokinetic properties

The original medication, like any analogue of "Ketanov", after ingestion is absorbed fairly well in the gastric tract. The highest concentration of the drug in the blood is reached approximately forty minutes after taking the tablet on an empty stomach (at a dose of 10 mg). It should be noted that the use of fatty and heavy food can significantly reduce the maximum concentration of the drug in the blood and delay its achievement by sixty minutes.

About 99 percent of the drug binds to plasma proteins. With hypoalbuminemia, the number of free substances in the blood increases. With regard to the bioavailability of the drug, it is approximately 80-100%.

With intramuscular injection, the "Ketanov" preparation is rapidly and completely absorbed into the bloodstream. Analogues (Ukraine produces only Ketorolac) are also well absorbed.

After intramuscular injection of 30 mg of the drug substance, its highest concentration is 1.75-3.2 μg / ml, and when using 60 mg - 3.25-5.75 μg / ml. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is observed after 15-20 and 35-65 minutes, respectively.

Does the medication penetrate into the mother's milk? Both expensive and cheap analogue of "Ketanov", as well as the drug itself can easily penetrate into breast milk. This occurs immediately after the first administration of the medication in an amount of 10 milligrams. The highest concentration of the drug in milk at this dose is achieved after approximately 120 minutes and is 7.3 ng / l.

About 50% of the administered dose of the drug is metabolized in the liver. As a result, inactive metabolites are formed. The main ones are p-hydroxycetorolac and glucuronides. As a rule, they are excreted by the kidneys (about 91%) and by the intestine (about 6%).

The half-life of the drug in patients with normal kidney function is about 5.4 hours. This value is significantly increased in the elderly and decreases in young people.

The work of the liver has no effect on the half-life of the drug. It should also be noted that the drug is not excreted in the process of hemodialysis.

Preparation "Ketanov": instructions for use

Analogs of this agent have similar methods of application and dosage. But in order to avoid cases of overdose before using them, we recommend that you consult a doctor.

How should I drink Ketanov tablets? This form of the drug must be taken once inside (10 mg each). If necessary (for example, with a strong pain syndrome), the dose of the medicine can be doubled. However, it should be noted that the daily dosage of this drug should not exceed 40 mg.

When taking the drug inside the duration of the course is five days (no more).

If for some reason the patient can not take the oral form of the drug (for example, in the presence of ulcerative or erosive lesions of the stomach, intestine), then he is given an injection solution. This form is administered intramuscularly.

At the very beginning of therapy, the medication is used in the lowest effective dosages, which were selected in accordance with the intensity of the pain syndromes and the patient's reaction. If necessary, the patient is additionally prescribed and opioid analgesics.

Single dose of the drug with a single intramuscular injection:

  • People under 65 years - about 10-30 mg (depends on the intensity of pain);
  • People over 65 years, as well as patients with impaired renal function - 10-15 mg.

Dosage with multiple intramuscular injection:

  • People to 65 - about 10-30 mg, and then the same amount every four to seven hours;
  • People over 65 years, as well as patients with impaired renal function - 10-15 mg every 4-7 hours.

The daily dosage of the drug for intramuscular injection for adults should not exceed 90 mg. For elderly patients and those with impaired renal function, this amount should be reduced to 60 mg. The duration of treatment should not be more than five days.

During the transition from intramuscular administration of the drug to taking the medicine inside, the total daily dosage of both forms should not exceed 90 mg for adults and 60 mg for elderly patients or patients with impaired renal function.

Overdose Symptoms

When taking higher doses of the medicament, the patient may experience vomiting, abdominal pain, kidney damage, metabolic acidosis, nausea, erosive gastritis and peptic ulcer of the stomach.

As a treatment for such conditions, gastric lavage and the administration of various adsorbents are used. Also carry out symptomatic therapy (that is, support the vital functions of the body).

Drug Interactions

When the drug is used together with other NSAIDs, additive side effects may develop in the patient, and bleeding may occur with anticoagulants (including Heparin in small doses and with Pentoxifylline).

If you are concurrently taking medication with ACE inhibitors, then there may be abnormalities in kidney function.

It should also be noted that the use of the drug in question with Probenecid increases the half-life of ketorolac and its concentration in plasma.

If you take this medicine with lithium, then it is possible to lower the kidney clearance of lithium and increase its concentration in the plasma, and with "Furosemide" - lowering its diuretic effect.

During the application of Ketorolac, there is no need to take opioid analgesics.

The best analogue

"Ketanov" is a very strong and effective anesthetic drug, which is sold in almost all pharmacies. Speaking of its analogs, it is difficult to name the most effective medicine. Therefore, for rapid relief of severe pain syndromes, most doctors prescribe to their patients this particular drug. But if for any reason this drug is contraindicated to you, then we recommend replacing it with Ketorolacom. Depending on the country of origin, the price of this product may vary. The cost of packing Russian tablets starts from 20 rubles, Ukrainian - from 35, and Indian - from 45.

What else can replace the drug in question? Does he have another analog? "Ketanov" without a prescription can always be purchased at the pharmacy. In exactly the same way you can buy similar tools such as "Adolor", "Torolak", "Akular LS", "Toradol", "Dolak", "Ketofril", "Dolomin", "Ketorolaka tromethamine-Pharmaplant", " "," Ketorolac tromethamine "," Ketalgin "," Ketorolac-Eskom "," Ketokam "," Ketorolac-Verte "," Ketolac "," Ketorolac-OBL "," Ketorolac Rompharm "," Ketorol "and others.

The cost of these drugs can be either above the original or below. Recall that the drug "Ketanov" (10 tablets) can be purchased for 50-70 rubles. Also it should be said that it is highly discouraged to take it at your own discretion.

What means to use for local pain relief? Is there a corresponding form for the Ketanov drug? Ointment (analogues of the above mentioned tablet agent were presented above) with the same active substance is rather difficult to find. However, there is still a drug that can be used topically. This is a 2% medication called Ketorol (manufactured in India). Such a product is available in 30-gram tubes and quickly removes any pain syndromes (with topical application).

Reviews about an anesthetic

Now you know what the "Ketanov" is, what it is meant for. It should be noted that almost all the patients' reviews of this medication are positive. People who periodically use tablets or a solution for injection of "Ketanov" say that such a drug quite quickly eliminates any pain syndromes.

As medical practice shows, the effect of this anesthetic lasts for 12-15 hours (sometimes longer). After this time, taking the tablets should be repeated (if the pain has not passed).

However, one can not help saying that this medication, like other NSAIDs, has quite a few side effects. According to the reviews of patients, sometimes this medicine causes a feeling of nausea and abdominal pain. In this case, experts recommend that the oral form of the drug be replaced. After all, it is not a secret for anyone that taking NSAIDs can cause serious stomach problems (for example, contribute to the appearance of ulcers or erosion).

It should also be noted that many patients are particularly pleased with the price of the drug in question. Given that it must be taken on a one-time basis and for a short period of time, one blister with tablets can last for quite a long time. The same applies to the injection form of the drug.
