Eglonyl. Instructions for use, dosing and contraindications

The active substance of the drug "Eglonil" is sulpiride, a benzamide neuroleptic, which has moderate neuroleptic activity. This pharmaceutical agent has on the body a stimulating, antidepressant effect.

"Egonil" (instruction indicates) in the central nervous system blocks dopaminergic receptors that are in the limbic system. To achieve the antipsychotic effect, the optimal dose of sulpiride is more than 600 mg. The dose of the drug to 600 mg is prescribed in order to obtain a stimulating, antidepressant action.

In reduced doses, sulpiride is administered additionally in the treatment of psychosomatic diseases . "Egonil", the instruction indicates, effectively reduces the negative manifestations in the stomach ulcer. In patients with irritable bowel syndrome who take sulpiride, there is a decrease in the intensity of abdominal pain.

At low dosages, sulpiride (50-300 mg) eliminates dizziness.

Egonil: instructions for use

The drug is combined with other pharmaceutical psychotropic drugs or used as a monotherapy:

  • With acute and chronic form of schizophrenia;
  • In acute delirious states;
  • With depression of different origin;
  • With neuroses, a sense of anxiety, manifested in adult patients;
  • With severe behavioral disorders in children six years of age, including those suffering from autism (50 mg).

Egonil: dosage instructions

Solution

To stop acute psychosis (as well as in chronic form), injections of sulpiride in a dose of 400 mg to 800 mg are prescribed. The treatment is designed for up to 14 days.

"Eglonyl" tablets

In cases of acute and chronic schizophrenia, an attack of delirious psychosis, depression, the doctor chooses a daily dose of 200 mg to 1000 mg, dividing into 2-3 doses.

"Eglonyl" capsules

In the treatment of neurosis and anxiety in adults, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 50 mg to 150 mg for up to 4 weeks.

In severe behavioral disorders in children, in autism, the daily dose is calculated in an amount of 5 mg per kg of body weight of the child to 10 mg per 1 kg.

For patients who have reached advanced age, the dose of sulpiride at the beginning of treatment is ¼, or ½ of the usual recommended dose.

With concomitant diagnoses, in particular kidney failure, the doctor reduces the dose of the drug, increases the interval between administration.

Egonil: Side Effects

There may be abnormalities in the endocrine system: the development of hyperprolactinemia reversible character, which manifests itself as galactorrhea, amenorrhea, malfunctions of the menstrual cycle, very rarely observed symptoms of gynecomastia, impotence and frigidity. Sometimes patients complain of excessive sweating, the appearance of excess weight.

Increases the activity of liver enzymes.

CNS reacts to a long reception of "Eglonil": drowsiness, dizziness, tremor, early dyskinesia.

In medical practice, there were rare cases of late dyskinesia, which is expressed in the involuntary movements of the tongue, the face after a prolonged use of "Eglonila."

When hyperthermia occurs, the reception of sulpiride is canceled, because the elevated body temperature indicates the probability of developing a diagnosis of "malignant neuroleptic syndrome" (CNS).

The cardiovascular system sometimes responds to "Eglonil" with tachycardia, high blood pressure, very rarely - development of orthostatic hypotension, prolongation of the QT interval.

Allergic reactions manifest themselves skin rash.

Eglonil: instruction (contraindications)

Sulpiride is contraindicated in patients with prolactin-dependent tumors, hyperprolactinaemia, intoxication, in affect, manic psychosis, with pheochromocytoma. Do not take "Eglonil" to nursing mothers.

Intravenous injections of sulpiride for children under the age of 18 years are forbidden, and capsules are administered to children under 6 years of age.

It is not recommended to combine agonists of dopaminergic receptors and sultopride with sulpiride.

Contraindicated drug with increased sensitivity to one of the ingredients.
