History of the anthem of Russia - history of the country

Much that happens in this life passes us. We do not notice that every phenomenon leaves a trace behind and is evidence of the changes that occur without our participation and desire. One of these pages is the history of the anthem of the Russian Federation, which clearly shows how our country has flown from one extreme to the other.

Ironically, for a very long time Russia did not have a national anthem and a ceremony with the participation of foreign ambassadors, and other events of national significance occurred, initially, for a variety of church chants. More often than not, the prayer "Many years" was performed and this situation continued until the end of the 1780s. However, after the Emperor Peter the Great "cut through a window to Europe", these songs began to alternate with the medieval pan-European hymn "You, God, praise." All victorious events during the Northern War were marked by the singing of this work after all the other prayer songs. Toward the end of the reign, Peter the First ordered the oratorio "Preobrazhensky March of Peter the Great" to be performed. This moment can be considered a time when the real story of the anthem of Russia began, because the Preobrazhensky March has since become the main march in the country. Even since 1917 for some time this march served as a hymn to the state of the Soviets.

In general, the first anthem of Russia, the history of whose creation dates back to the end of the Patriotic War of 1812 , is "The Prayer of the Russians" by A.V. Zhukovsky, which is known among the people as "God Save the Tsar!". For the first time it was performed when they celebrated the anniversary of the opening of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. And the history of the anthem of Russia was already marked by the fact that A.S. Pushkin added to the main words two additional verses, performed on the same day. The song was so popular with Alexander I that he ordered to make it the main one for execution at the meetings of the emperor and the regimental band included "Russian Prayer" in its mandatory repertoire.

On December 25, 1833, when the anniversary of the victory of the Russian army over the hordes of Napoleon was celebrated, the history of the anthem of Russia was continued in the form of the official anthem "God Save the Tsar!", Rewritten by Prince AF. Lvov. And this anthem of Russia, the history of whose creation lasted until the day of the abdication of Nicholas II from the throne, but is more known to the modern generation.

The history of the anthem of the Russian Federation was then continued until the February 1917 Revolution in the form of the "Russian Marseillaise." But the bourgeois work did not like the leader of the proletariat, VI Lenin, and he issued a decree to replace it with the "Internationale", which was first performed as a hymn on January 10, 1918, after the final victory of the socialist revolution, which was noted at the Third Congress of Soviets.

And the history of the anthem of Russia today began in a communist version with the performance on January 1, 1944, on the radio, works by S.V. Mikhalkov and G.A. El-Registan, which began with the words "Union of the indestructible republics of the free." From March 15, 1944 to December 11, 1993, this hymn was officially performed at state ceremonies and solemn meetings.

The national anthem of the new, post-perestroika, Russia should have sounded to the music of Mikhail Glinka's "Patriotic Song". None of the texts that were submitted for consideration by the competitive commission, the selection did not pass. And over 6,000 texts of various authors from all parts of the great Russian Federation were examined. The work of the commission was suspended. And in the end they stopped at the converted S.V. Mikhalkov's copy of the last hymn to the music of Alexander Alexandrov. The hymn of the Russian Federation was approved and became official since March 24, 2001 from the moment of signing of the decree by the President V.V. Putin.
