How to treat vitiligo to increase the likelihood of recovery

Vitiligo is a skin disease caused by the destruction of melanocytes - cells responsible for pigmentation. Until now, no one knows exactly how this destruction occurs, but it is clear only that the earlier treatment is begun, the more likely to get rid of the disease, and 5% of people it passes by itself.

The causes of vitiligo in children and adults are associated with modern medicine with stresses, autoimmune diseases, infections, intestinal and giardiasis invasions, hormonal disorders (in 30% of patients it is accompanied by diseases of the thyroid gland) and impaired liver function.

The patient practically does not feel anything at the time of the onset of the disease. Only before the appearance of a new stain can sometimes be a little scratching the skin area.

The main symptom of the disease is clearly defined patches, which are initially lighter than the rest of the skin, and subsequently completely lose their pigmentation and merge into vast white areas. They are located more often on the face, hands (especially the brushes), knees, under the arms, as well as around the mouth and eyes.

The skin of the patient vitiligo remains at the same smooth and moisturized.

How to treat vitiligo locally

It is believed that the ultraviolet part of the sun's rays causes white spots to appear on the patient's skin . Of course, you can advise to minimize the effect of sunlight, but this increases the risk of osteoporosis. Often, when deciding how to treat vitiligo, patients use local remedies, which act mainly as a disguise, and not as a method of healing. To do this, apply those medicinal plants that contain furokumarin, a substance that stimulates the sensitivity of the skin to ultraviolet radiation, thereby increasing its pigmentation. Suitable in this case are the herb of St. John's wort, duckweed, dill seed and parsley, from which extracts are prepared. Be sure, after treatment with these funds, it is necessary to "light" the lesion by the sun's rays in order to activate the production of melanin.

How to treat vitiligo systemically

From the use of exclude those foods that contain many animal fats, spicy seasonings, smoked foods, alcohol, fast food products and strong tea and coffee. Also undesirable are food-allergens: tomatoes, strawberries, eggs, citrus fruits and seafood.

In addition, it is recommended to take vitamins: ascorbic acid, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic and paraaminobenzoic acid. Preparations that increase the sensitivity of the skin to light (Beroxane, Lamadine, psoralen, maledinin) are used, combined with PUVA-therapy. It can be tablets, alcohol solutions, and ointments.

Another way to treat vitiligo is microwave resonance therapy, which has a healing effect on half of the patients who used it.
