Day of ecological knowledge. Why is it so important to preserve nature?

The global environmental problem today affects almost every corner of the world. Advocacy for combating pollution of nature is one of the steps towards preserving the environment. To this end, April 15 is celebrated the Day of Environmental Knowledge.

Ecological problems

Pollution of nature, depletion of resources, the disappearance of rare plant and animal species - all this is a consequence of human impact on nature. However, people can not only destroy, but also create, which means they are able to preserve nature and restore what has not yet been lost forever.

Environmental problems include:

  • environmental pollution;
  • Irrational use of resources;
  • Human impact on nature for personal gain (deforestation, drainage of water bodies, excessive shooting of animals);
  • Indirect human impact (for example, getting a lot of freons into the atmosphere leads to the destruction of the ozone layer).

Since the problem exists, it needs to be given due attention. Many of us have heard about this situation, but not everyone knows how to influence the state of the environment. Therefore, the World Ecological Knowledge Day is an important step towards the realization of the goal.

International Day of Ecological Knowledge. How did the idea of the holiday come about?

For the first time the proposal to create such a holiday was made in 1992 at the World Environmental Conference in Rio de Janeiro. The UN as the organizer of this congress focused attention on the problems of the ecology of that time.

As a result, one of the points of this conference was the creation of a new holiday - World Environment Day. The day of the action was scheduled for April 15.

Day of ecological knowledge. Holiday Scenario

The goal of the day of environmental knowledge is to involve as many people as possible in the fight against environmental pollution. April 15, in all schools and universities in Russia and many other countries held actions, environmental conferences and meetings, games and other ways to bring students of general education institutions to the problem of ecology. Experts believe that it is very important at this age to draw the child's attention to the global problem of environmental pollution.

However, the events are held not only in schools, but also on the streets. Competitions, actions aimed at increasing the interest of listeners to preserve nature, speeches of ecologists - this can be seen on the venues of the celebration. Often, participation is accompanied by prizes.

Celebrating the Day of Ecological Knowledge in Russia

April 15 in the walls of almost every educational institution in Russia organized activities to protect nature. The same applies to environmental competitions-actions, which are held on the streets of large cities. In general, everything that is typical for the holiday can be seen in action at many sites of the country.

Day of ecological knowledge is not the only such holiday in Russia. April 15 opens the season of several events on the protection of nature and the fight against pollution. Immediately after this holiday, the days of protecting the environment from environmental hazards are followed, and the World Environment Day, which is held on June 5, closes this chain.

Are the days of ecological knowledge celebrated everywhere?

Although the Day of Environmental Knowledge is an international holiday, it is not held in every country. So, in Belarus they even talk about the uselessness of this event. Such an approach is proved by the fact that in high schools and so teach good ecologists during training sessions, so there is no need for excessive propaganda. This is considered even a professor at the University. Sakharov - the leading university in the country with an environmental focus of activities.

However, such a situation does not mean complete disregard for the problems of ecology. On the contrary, apart from the Sakharov University, the biological and geological departments of the Belarusian State University conduct environmental protection work, and the "Green Chemistry" project was created at the chemistry department, again aimed at preserving the gifts of nature.

Meaning of the holiday

The problem of ecology has haunted humanity for a long time, and in order not to worsen the present state, everyone must contribute to the preservation of nature. It is clear that such global problems as depletion of resources or accidents at power plants can not be solved by an ordinary person, but even a small contribution of each can affect the aggregate on the ecological state.

The primary task of the Day of Environmental Knowledge is to show people how important it is to preserve nature. The action makes you think about the pressing problems and how important it is to solve them. The knowledge received during the holiday should influence the person's attitude to nature and help him to keep it as much as possible.
