How to prepare a peach jam with oranges?

Peach jam can be considered one of the most delicious. The flesh of the tender and juicy peach even without the addition of sugar has a terrific taste, and if you add an orange to it, the effect will be simply stunning. In this case, you can use all sorts of spices or additional ingredients to add flavor.

Before you start to prepare a peach jam, you need to choose the right foods, since the final result and taste of the dish depend on their quality. Here it is worth noting that if any other jam can be taken fruits that are not entirely of first-class quality (a little crumpled, overripe, burst, etc.), then this recipe for jam is designed for products of impeccable quality. Therefore, lying or starting to wilt or rot products are not suitable.

To prepare jam from peaches and oranges in the volume of two liters, the following ingredients will be required:

  • Oranges - six pieces (small);
  • Peaches - 1.5 kg;
  • Water - 2.5 cups;
  • Sugar - 1.3 kg

Before you start preparing the jam, you need to decide which version of the jam we are going to make. The fact is that this recipe assumes that peach jam can contain large pieces of peaches, in the form of halves or cut into small cubes. In this case, the orange in both cases must be cut into small pieces.

Large pieces of peaches (halves of the fruit) will give piquancy to the jam and preserve a more natural taste of the products, and a peach, cut into small pieces with orange, will make the peach jam more saturated. Therefore, making peach jam, this must be taken into account.

Before cutting peaches, they must be scalded with boiling water and peeled. Oranges need to be cleaned and then cut into medium cubes. Of both fruits, it is necessary to completely remove all the bones, since they can give bitterness and spoil all the jam.

Next, you need to take a pan in which the jam will be boiled, pour it with water and put it on the fire. After the water reaches the boiling point, it should be added sugar, which must be cooked on a small fire for about five minutes. After that, add the fruit to the pan and, with constant stirring, cook for forty minutes on a small fire. Jam is ready.

For better safety, the ready-made jam is still poured in a hot form according to previously prepared and clean jars, which, together with the contents, are lowered into boiling water for five minutes. After that, the jars are closed with a tight lid and turn over until it cools down completely. Such preserving of peaches will allow the quarry to stay for a rather long time without changing its taste properties.

Many housewives in the process of cooking fruit in syrup add a variety of herbs or spices to the pan. They can significantly improve the taste of jam, but true peach connoisseurs believe that this only interrupts the taste and aroma of fruits that are already bright and inimitable. Others prefer to add half a glass of cognac to this volume, but since jam can be eaten by children, this is not recommended.
