How to choose a quadrocopter with a video camera for beginners?

Advertising booklets and smart sellers tell us about new models of quadrocopters (multicopters) that will "meet all our requirements." In any online store that sells this kind of gadget, you can find more than a hundred options for drones. It's very easy to get confused in all this diversity, and therefore we will try to systematize everything that we know about these gadgets and answer the main questions most often asked by inexperienced users: how to choose a quadrocopter for beginners, for experienced ones, to take with or without a video camera, how many blades etc.

To choose a good flying machine that perfectly meets all your requirements is not so easy. It should start with the fact that all models of quadrocopters differ from each other by several basic characteristics, which affect both the possibilities and the cost of the drone, and therefore it is necessary to find a certain balance of these indicators before choosing a quadrocopter.

Number of blades

Multicopters are unmanned flying drones with remote control, where the root "multi" means "a lot". One of the most popular versions of these devices are quadrocopters, that is, drones with four carrying blades, but on sale you can see gadgets and with two, three, six and eight screws.

Here the principle is simple - the more blades, the more power and stability of flight. But you need to understand and one more simple thing - more blades, then more engines, and this at times reduces the battery life of the drone and the charge of the battery is literally melting in front of your eyes. Therefore, you decide which quadcopter to choose: a stable course even in bad weather conditions and a short battery life or something average, but with an acceptable flight time.

Dimensions

All multicopters can be divided into three main dimensional groups. The first is small and ultra-small drones. Such proposals are mainly for beginners, amateurs and children. Such apparatuses are easily placed in a bag, and sometimes even in a pocket. Before choosing a quadrocopter for a child or novice amateur, keep in mind that, due to their small size, these devices are burdened by problems with flight stability, and a strong gust of wind can not only knock them off the road, but also knock them to the ground.

Medium Devices

Drones of medium size are the most popular among most lovers of multi-copters. They are used both by beginners and professionals. The size of the device allows you to carry it in your backpack without any problems. Such drones can be equipped with a video camera with good resolution, but most often you have to buy this fashionable addition separately, so keep this in mind before choosing a mid-sized quadrocopter.

Large drones

Large devices are used, as a rule, for professional purposes. This became a real fetish among those who stopped perceiving drones as some kind of easy hobby, thus turning their favorite pastime into a serious hobby or even a job.

Drones of large sizes can carry a very solid cargo and consistently plan at a good height. Very often such devices are equipped with additional batteries, as well as special suspensions for the adaptation of SLR cameras. Advise models of this category for beginners or children can not - too expensive toy. Accessories in case of breakage are far from cheap, although it is difficult to break the screws of such models due to their quality and durability, keep this in mind before choosing a large-sized quadrocopter.

Camera availability

This moment is the cornerstone for each particular drone. As already mentioned above, there are models where the camcorder is included. And there is a very strange pattern - the larger the dron's dimensions, the less likely it will be a quadrocopter with a camera.

How to choose the best option? It's pretty simple. Medium-sized drones are universal multi-copters, which are often equipped with a built-in camera, with a high resolution of 10-14 megapixels. Such aircraft can be recommended not only for novice pilots, but even for children of adolescence (preferably under the supervision of adults).

Most pilots prefer to mount their cameras on their own drones, choosing the pixelization they need. As a rule, we are talking about an extreme model of GoPro, famous for its "zatankovannostyu" and an abundance of useful functions. This point is also worth considering, before choosing a quadrocopter with a video camera.

In small models for children and beginners, the camera is in the basic configuration, and in the vast majority it is built into the body of the drone. Due to their size, this is a comparatively simple device with a low resolution (0.3-2 Mp).

The principles of controlling quadrocopters with a camera

Popular and high-quality models of drones can be piloted through a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Communication is carried out by wireless protocol Wi-Fi. And it is very convenient, because it is controlled by the drones through an intuitive and familiar interface.

Thanks to the touch screen, the pilot can control the direction of the flight of the quadrocopter, its height and speed. In addition, the user can see the image from the camera in real time, with the ability to shoot video and photographic materials from a bird's eye view.

All would be well, but there is in such a principle of management one fly in the ointment - the drone can fly only for a certain distance (about a dozen meters), that is, within the range of the wi-fi signal. Alternatively, you can use proprietary remote controls that will allow you to reset restrictions and increase the flight range to several kilometers. The only drawback of this method is the complexity of management due to the abundance of additional functions and all sorts of specific features that ordinary mobile gadgets lack. Keep this in mind before choosing a quadrocopter. Some models can be combined with proprietary control panels, allowing, for example, to use your mobile device as a monitor, if it is not on the remote.

Autonomous work

This is another important point that will help answer the question: "How to choose the right quadroopter?". The more the battery capacity, the further and longer the drone can fly. The average indicator of autonomous operation of most aircraft varies from 8 to 15 minutes in the basic configuration.

Large models can be additionally equipped with external batteries, which will extend the flight time by about half an hour. With medium and small drones, this "upgrade" is more difficult, since the power of the screws does not allow you to lift a lot of weight, but one such battery weighs a lot. In addition, such a revision is not always possible on the hardware level.

The problem of a short battery life can be partially solved by a set of replaceable batteries that can easily be replaced by putting the multicopter on the ground before. The cost of an additional battery pack for medium-sized drones is not that high, so there is no critical problem here, and once again inspecting the screws when boarding while replacing the batteries will be superfluous.

Popular Models

Above we have outlined the main points that should be taken into consideration when choosing a quadrocopter for beginners.
