Formation in the form of external studies. Externate is ...

Not so long ago, one of the most popular forms of training among high school students was an external study. With his help, gifted children were given the opportunity not only to study at home, but to finish their studies for a year or two earlier. But what is it? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of training, and most importantly, where and how can one get an education in the form of an external student?

Externship as a form of training

First, let's look at what is external and how people who are educated with this form of training are called.

Externate is one of the alternative forms of individual education, in which the student independently studies the content of the curriculum according to the curriculum, and then, according to the results of interim assessments, is allowed to examinations or final attestations. Learners through this form of learning are called externalities.

Upon the completion of the GIA, the student can receive a document on education, and in the event that the program has not been assimilated in the amount established by the curriculum, obtain a certificate from a statutory sample.

The form of the externate is valid in all educational institutions that have state accreditation. There are no age limits for those wishing to study with external studies. Externally can be trained as a first-grader, and a student of the university.

Features of training

Like any other form of training, the external has its own characteristics.

1. External students do not need to attend lessons or lectures. But this does not mean that the student does not attend the school at all. He must appear for consultations with the teacher, intermediate and final attestations.

2. For students of this form of training, a schedule of individual consultations is prepared, to which they are obliged to come. During the consultation, the external does not only receive recommendations for studying a particular discipline, but also asks the teacher questions of interest to him.

3. For the external training, an individual schedule for the final certification is also drawn up, following which a document of the established type is issued.

4. Gifted students for a year can pass the program of several classes or courses.

Who is the external student for?

Despite the absence of any restrictions, not everyone can get education through external studies. First of all, this is due to the specifics. In addition, not all parents will agree that their child almost all the time spent at home and did not attend an educational institution. But in some cases, external studies can be the only correct solution.

So, here are the most compelling reasons for joining an external student:

1. Gift of the child. If a child learns the school curriculum much faster than their classmates, then it is possible that he should switch to an external school.

2. Occupation in sports or creative groups. Often professional sportsmen and artists have to devote a lot of time to their "hobby" - attend training and rehearsals, take part in competitions and shows, often leave. In this situation, the child does not manage to regularly attend classes at school, and therefore the best way out is the form of the external.

3. Frequent trips of parents can also lead to the fact that the child will rarely attend school and engage in self-education.

4. State of health. Unfortunately, not all children are healthy. Some of them have such diseases that lead to disability and restrict freedom of movement. Of course, such children are provided with home schooling, but there is nothing to prevent it from being replaced by an external student.

5. Work. This clause is applicable to students. Often they have to devote all their free time to work in order to pay not only study, but also life in another city. Sometimes the work takes too much time, the student has to skip classes, which ultimately leads to deductions for absenteeism or a session not delivered on time.

Advantages of external studies

As with any training, the externship has its advantages and disadvantages. First, let's talk about the main advantages.

  1. The presence of additional free time. Since the student does not need to attend the school every day, he has a little more free time. So, time is released that goes to the road, changes, lunch break (if there is one in the school). In addition, this reduces the student's expenses.
  2. Training on an individually compiled program. The student sees the entire amount of work in advance, can quickly learn simple and understandable topics to him, and more difficult to leave for later. In addition, he can devote more time to really important subjects for him, deepen his knowledge in his chosen field.
  3. Possibility of correcting the daily routine. Have you heard about human biorhythms? Some work better in the morning, others are more energetic in the evening, and sometimes at night. Usually, all classes take place in the morning, which is not suitable for everyone. Externs have the right to choose at what time, where and how to learn them.
  4. Obtaining a document on education before the deadline. Studying as an external student, you can go through a year of study material, designed for several years.

Disadvantages of external studies

The main disadvantages of the externat include the following:

1. Decreased quality of education. We note at once that this statement is controversial. On the one hand, the external does not have strict control on the part of the teacher, the quality of his knowledge is checked only during the intermediate and final certification.

On the other hand, control is still present, while knowledge of all topics provided by the curriculum is checked.

2. Difficulties in self-mastering disciplines. Whatever one may say, a person can not equally well master all disciplines. For example, not everyone understands chemistry and can understand it with the help of a teacher. And what then to speak about its independent development? After all, eksternat is an education received independently. Externs can not get a full-fledged teacher's help, so they will either have to try to deal with this or that topic on their own, or to seek help from friends or even hire tutors.

3. Imperfect knowledge in this or that field of knowledge. In the course of self-study, the external student may lack the necessary practical skills, skip here or another part of the material, which eventually leads to knowledge gaps. Such errors can be costly in the future.

Rights of externalities

Note the basic rights of externalities, which fixed the law on externalities.

1. Extern has the right to consult on each subject. The duration of the consultation can be from 15 minutes to 2 hours per year.

2. Extern has the right to attend practical and laboratory classes to gain practical skills.

3. The student is obliged to provide reference and educational literature both in the school or university library, and at the departments.

4. Extern has the right to take part in Olympiads and competitions.

Admission to the external

Admission to the externship includes a number of the following steps:

1. First of all, it is necessary to get acquainted with the list, in which the externates of Moscow or another city are chosen by choice.

2. Discuss with the headmaster of the school or the dean the possibility of learning from the outside.

3. Write a statement on a certain form.

4. Provide the necessary documents.

5. Create and approve an individual training schedule.

6. Get textbooks and teaching aids, materials.

When should I not go to the externship?

Despite its attractiveness, external studies are a rather complex form of training. Therefore, before you decide to switch to an external study or transfer your children to it, think about whether you can do the following things:

  1. Organize a clear schedule and schedule.
  2. Create conditions for a full systematic training.
  3. Explain to your child the material from one or another field of knowledge.
  4. Independently disassemble any, even the most complex topic.
  5. You can organize yourself.
  6. You can work with reference books and books.

If you can not perform at least one item from this list, then there is a high probability that you will not be able to get an education through external studies.

Councils of externalities

Have you decided to choose an external student? This means that you will have to work a lot. Therefore, we decided to give you some valuable tips that will help ease the training.

1. Be sure to attend all consultations. On them you can not only get a curriculum on the subject, get acquainted with the teacher, learn its requirements, the form of passing the exam, sample tasks.

2. Ask questions as early as possible.

3. Perform all tasks provided by the curriculum.

4. Do not deviate from the curriculum. If you need to learn 7 topics, learn them, do not throw away those that seem boring to you, uninteresting and completely useless.

5. Work out your curriculum and schedule. Do not forget that you should not dump all the items in one heap. Give one item an hour and a half a day, try to disassemble for a day not more than five.

6. Learn the requirements for the design of works.

7. Make your plan for learning the subject. To do this, count the number of topics and exercises in them and try to evenly break them into weeks.

Moscow schools-eksternaty

Regulations

Initially, the externship was provided for by the RF Law "On Education" of 23.06. 2000. It was also accompanied by an additional document - "Regulations on obtaining general education in the form of external studies", which described in detail the specifics of this form of training, the rights and duties of externalities.

In the new law "On Education in the Russian Federation" of December 29, 2012 this form of education is not provided. Thus, the new law "On Education" externship as a form of training eliminates.

Nevertheless, there remains the possibility of obtaining a family education or self-education. At the same time, it is possible to pass intermediate and final attestations in the form of external studies.

conclusions

Externate is one of the forms of learning, in which the student independently learns the curriculum. It has both advantages and disadvantages and does not suit everyone. To date, the law does not provide for education through this form of education.
