MIREA: student feedback, description, faculties and specialties

One of the key universities in Europe, which train highly qualified specialists in the field of engineering, is the MIREA University. The feedback from students and graduates shows that the old name does not want to give way to a new one: since 2014 it is the Moscow State University of Instrument Engineering and Informatics (MGUPI). Apparently, for this reason, the abbreviation belonging to the predecessors was preserved. This university joined the association of technical universities in Europe (Top Industrial Managers for Europe).

History

This remarkable university was founded in 1947 and was not the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation, and the All-Union Correspondence Energy Institute - VZEI - until 1967, after which it was renamed, and the students began to study not only in absentia, but also internally. VZEI had powerful branches in Kiev, Leningrad, Baku, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk and Tashkent, where they also trained engineers of high qualification and improved their knowledge of retraining.

In the image and likeness of the VZEI, other technical universities of the USSR were formed: its training and consulting departments and branches often became the basis for the creation of new polytechnical institutes in Kemerovo, Omsk, Kirov and some other cities. That is, the VZEI was considered the leading institute in the whole system of training in radio engineering and energy, where there was a real forge of cadres for many of the newest branches of the national economy, including for the defense industry.

VZEI until 1963

MIREA, whose reviews are so favorable, began long before his birth. VZEI gradually evolved in line with the needs of the development of science and technology. At the very beginning of the sixties specialists in electronic engineering and radio electronics were already here. Even then, the institute began to reform and move away from clean energy to science-intensive technologies. Therefore, some faculties went to MEI (Moscow Power Engineering Institute): hydropower, heat power, electric power and electromechanical.

Next to the radio engineering faculty, VZEI opens the faculties of automation, computer technology, measurement technology and telemechanics, the design and manufacture of radioelectronics equipment. Then the evening radio engineering faculty opens. Since 1964, the institute has come very close to training engineers for the defense industry in the following specialties: radio engineering, cybernetics, electronics, computer technology.

MIREA (1967)

After the conversion of the VEZI to MIREA, the feedback on the institute began to mark the preparation of extremely valuable engineering personnel for the radio and electronic industry, for science-intensive branches of engineering and instrument-making, for control systems and automation. MIREA had no own space at first, since it was based on the territory of the MPEI, in one of its buildings. Gradually, the institute received and expanded its own areas to six buildings: the Transfiguration and Vernadsky Prospekt. The MIREA educational and scientific complex, whose reviews are also positive, is located on the Borovskoye Highway. In the complex there is a building of the information-computing center and a scientific and technical library.

During the existence of MIREA, students' feedback did not change the tonality: it is interesting to study there, the university cooperates with fifty enterprises from the sphere of production using high technologies, which are the basis for the work of the departments. Educational programs are certified according to international standards, the latest scientific laboratories and student design offices are established at MIREA. Student feedback and can not be negative about the university, which has academies from such iconic vendors as Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, EMC, Huawei and many others.

Military Department

MIREA has basic departments at the leading enterprises of the defense-industrial complex, therefore one of the training units is the military department of MIREA. Reviews about the faculties, departments and specialties very often mention this with gratitude.

Here the cadres are hammered both for the security forces and for the reserve of the RF Armed Forces. This is a civilian high school, but the military department is preserved, and from here reserve officers leave. Here students are taught only one day a week from the fourth to the eighth semester, classes last for six hours, after which students are given two hours for self-preparation.

Dormitory

One of the first questions when entering MIREA is a hostel. Reviews about it, too, is in sufficient numbers, but, in contrast to feedback on teaching and the quality of university training in general, opinions vary in them. First of all, because it simply does not suffice: with a huge number of students, the number of places in the hostel is simply not comparable - there are only 297. There is always a competition for accommodation. Naturally, outside the competition are certain categories of students: orphans, low-income, disabled and others.

Nevertheless, students respond well about the hostel itself: there are good conditions for recreation, and for studying, and for playing sports. There is a library, Internet access in the computer room, a dining room, a gym, a medical insulator and a luggage room. Security provides throughput and 24-hour video surveillance. In all the entrances there are fire and alarm buttons, an alarm system is installed .

Institutes

As part of MIREA, there are ten institutes implementing VO programs: a master's program, a specialty and a bachelor's degree. The Institute of High Technologies as a structural subdivision of MIREA provides training for bachelors, masters, specialists and post-graduate students. There is a long line of directions and specialties. Also here are upgraded qualifications and are retrained by engineering, engineering and management personnel. A large research work is being carried out. In the teaching staff of the Institute - more than 75 percent of those having academic degrees and titles.

The faculty of cybernetics receives the most numerous responses at the University of MIREA. The testimonies indicate that his graduates are very much in demand. (To be precise, it is not the faculty, but the institute of cybernetics.) It is such a subdivision in which there is a training department, sixteen departments, educational and scientific centers and laboratories. Among applicants special interest is in software engineering from all directions and specializations of MIREA. The responses of the masters who received such an education indicate that this specialization is worth the extra two years to complete the science after a bachelor's degree.

Other institutes:

  • Innovative technologies and public administration,
  • information technologies,
  • Complex safety and special instrumentation,
  • Radio engineering and telecommunication systems,
  • Fine chemical technologies,
  • Technical aesthetics and design,
  • Management and economics,
  • Electronics.

Faculties

In the structure of MIREA there are three more institutions of a special warehouse besides the ten mentioned above. It is an international institute of informatics with programs of training foreigners, the institute of pre-university training with programs for students of colleges and schools, as well as the institution of additional education.

And a number of faculties exist in MIREA, non-specialized. This is the faculty of general training (physics, chemistry, higher mathematics and much more), the evening faculty with the same higher education programs, the faculty of distance and correspondence education and the college of instrument-making and information technologies.

There are twelve branches from MIREA (MGUPI). Reviews about them are also the most favorable. Most of them are located near Moscow: in Sergiev Posad, Fryazino, Serpukhov and other cities.

Who writes reviews?

In MSTU MIREA reviews can write more than seven thousand students, both Russian and foreign. Surely not all have written, but it is simply impossible to read completely what students and graduates think or remember about MIREA. Because very, very many reviews. Both postgraduates and doctoral students were noted there, of which there are considerably more than two hundred and fifty in the university.

The future applicants also write, which pass pre-university training, and there are many of them, too - more than a thousand. And especially many reviews from those who receive additional education, but this is understandable: far for ten thousand people studying at MIREA (MGUPI). There are also comments on the preparation of doctors of sciences and candidates of sciences who are trained and protected in twenty specialties. In MIREA, six dissertational councils are constantly working in the office, where the thesis is defended and the degree is awarded.

Teachers

In MIREA - more than two thousand teachers and professors give the young generation their experience and knowledge. From this huge, seemingly number, it is possible to allocate far for 1000 candidates of sciences and associate professors, plus about 3600 professors and doctors of sciences, 5 corresponding members and full members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and about 100 members from other academies. And there are about 50 laureates of the State Prize and Government Prize in MIREA.

That's why such reviews about MIREA. Moscow, or rather its entrants, with all the abundance of options for obtaining higher education is very often chosen precisely this institution. There are many pluses and almost no cons, judging by the reviews. There is a developed training base and excellent technical. Practice students take place in the design offices. For example, in the Scientific and Technical Center "Electronics", the technopark, the international laboratory LEMAC. Very highly praised the higher mathematics of the faculty of cybernetics: both undergraduate and graduate, because they teach very well and treat students with relentless attention.

International activity

Cooperation in science and education with foreign universities is the most important component of the strategic line of the university's development, therefore the ties with them are very tight: joint research and development, practical seminars and conferences are being held, and teaching and student mobility is developing in the form of an exchange of leading teaching staff.

Now MIREA is in close contact with the institutes and universities of Germany, France, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Japan, Taiwan, China, USA, Kirghizia, Vietnam, Korea and many others. Also MIREA is in many international associations and associations.

academic mobility

Scientific cooperation with foreign countries implies joint scientific research, for which special joint units have been set up. The key direction of this work is the support of academic mobility, that is, the implementation with the preliminary development of educational programs, the training and internship of students abroad, the receipt of two diplomas - MIREA and the partner university, the exchange of leading teachers and professors for lecturing and research.
