This is easy: take any cotton thread, measure the desired length of the wick (you can fold the thread twice or thrice, depending on the thickness of the future candle), put one end of the thread into the mold, thread it through the hole and secure it from the outside with a small piece of wax. The second end is tied to a pencil or any other stick that is placed on top of the mold so that the thread is inside the can in the center, in a slightly stretched state.

You just need the usual wax crayons for drawing, and the one you want to color is fine-grained and added to the wax, carefully mixing everything until you get a uniform color.
