Consistency as a quality of personality

Consistency - 1. Invariability of any qualities, feelings; 2. Unshakable, consistent actions carried out in accordance with their intentions, purpose and faith.

Constancy is a litmus test for determining the maturity of a person. Inconsistency is a child's privilege. The child quickly changes his interests: he became interested in drawing, then with labels from chewing gum, then with stamps and coins and, at last, completed the month with interest in aquarium fish. The kid "looks for himself", around so much interesting, I want to try everything. Therefore, it is pointless to reproach a child for impermanence - on the contrary, one should encourage his curiosity, but at the same time encourage an in-depth, not superficial acquaintance with the hobby. Of course, even among adults, many unbalanced people who constantly rush from hobby to fad, wander, search for something, and are not persistent, like children. The desire to receive everything and immediately is characteristic of the way of thinking of children, as well as for the immature person. About these people say: "He has seven Fridays in a week", the communication with them irritates his uncertainty, because you do not know what they will throw out the next minute.

With the tail of the years, a person, becoming stable, fundamental, balanced and persistent, forms in himself a consistency in behavior, the manifestation of the qualities of the person, feelings and emotions. His reactions to the circumstances and situations of life are not accidental, they are always based on the manifested character traits. If he does not have rudeness, he will never write obscene words in the elevator under the influence of mood. His mood depends little on the situations of the outside world and even less from those around him. If he is an opponent of alcohol, no coaxing of colleagues or friends will not work for him. Having gone to work as a Christian, he will not return as a committed adherent of Jehovah's Witnesses.

At the same time, the behavior of constancy is not routine, stiff and straightforward, it can change according to conscious choice and will. If permanence has to wear a social mask, it is only to fulfill its duties, and not because it is afraid of being oneself. Its invariable essence remains always, even when it plays the role of the buyer in the store, the passenger in the subway, the client at the doctor, the chief at work or the subordinate in the office of the management.

Native sisters of constancy are discipline and determination. This "bird-troika" gives a guaranteed desired result in any business. Steadily sticking to the intended path, persistence with unchanging actions persistently and inevitably goes to its goal. Suppose that there is a conditional target of 1000 for constancy. In order to achieve this, persistence breaks down a segment of the path, for example, into 1000 plots, and every day makes only one step, that is, regularly, without any reservations and excuses, no matter what happens, just one step. Consistency is convinced - do not run ahead, engage in assault, set records - you need to do every day one step. It knows that the guarantee of the realization of the goal is in its steadfastness, firmness, regularity, discipline and uniform orientation.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Having taken the first step, the constancy will not turn off the intended path, it will act in the same spirit throughout the whole journey. Consistency has firmly grasped the secret: daily small actions lead to an increase in quantity, which necessarily grows into the quality it needs. "A drop gouges a stone not by force, but often falling," Giordano Bruno wrote. In other words, constancy is the "golden key" to the door of success.

Consistency requires the person to have a sense of purpose, responsibility and commitment. Do not be persistent, people would forget about these promises, do not fulfill their duties and obligations, could not achieve their goals. As Voltaire said: "For great things, you need tireless persistence." Indeed, the goal, as a rule, is reached by one who constantly and persistently works, always completing what he started. The people say wisely: "Do not be changeable, like the wind; Be as constant as a river. The wind will abate; The river will also break through the mountain. " One of the main principles of constancy is precisely: "to finish what has been started."

Consistency is not a routine existence, inert thinking and trampling on the spot. Everything is exactly the opposite - permanence is personal growth, steady actions in a certain direction, the road to success and happiness. The secret of success is in constant efforts based on a firm conviction and faith. For example, a true belief in God implies a permanent relationship with God . Not when pressed, but at all times of life - both in sorrow and in joy. Temporary impulses of spirituality do not count, they are not permanent. A constant person is faithful to God always and everywhere, in all life situations. "When a person commits one or another moral act," wrote Georg Hegel, "he is not yet virtuous in this, he is virtuous only if this mode of behavior is a constant feature of his character."

One feels an involuntary respect for a person when they say about him: "He is constant in friendship", "He has a permanent character", "He is constant in love". F.Laroshfuko wrote: "Constancy in love is an eternal impermanence, which forces us to get involved in turns by all the qualities of a loved one, giving preference to one of them, then to the other; Thus, constancy turns out to be impermanence, but limited, that is, focused on one thing. "

Constancy must be perceived as an abstract concept in the context of the fact that it is one of the poles of the individual. In a person in the manifested and not manifested form necessarily present both constancy and impermanence. We call a permanent person a holder of the manifested constancy. Nevertheless, to some extent it also contains impermanence - even if it is strangled, disenfranchised and homeless. Create a condition, and it will raise the "head", giving battle its opposite. Therefore, all human reactions to certain life situations should be considered through the prism of opposition between the two poles.

When we talk about the immutability of the qualities and feelings of a person, we must understand that these characteristics are inherent to him without regard for impermanence, that is, abstractly from the unfriendly side of a single whole. The character of a person, his manifested and not manifested qualities of a person, change under the influence of time and circumstances. Man is able to degrade in his ignorance to the animal state. At the same time, he is able to cultivate in him practically any virtues necessary to him, including permanence.
