Causes, treatment, symptoms: inflammation of the pancreas

The pancreas is the second largest organ of the digestive system after the liver. The length of this organ is about 20 cm, the gland is located to the left of the stomach.

Pancreas, functions:

- Production of hormones: insulin and liposin. Insulin is responsible for the sugar content in the blood, and the lipoide is responsible for the normal process of fat oxidation in the liver.

- Development of pancreatic juice and enzymes for digestion. This juice neutralizes the acid from the stomach and passes further into the duodenum, thus participating in digestion.

If the pancreatic duct for some reason overlaps, the pancreatic juice can not normally pass through it and begins to dissolve the gland itself. This phenomenon causes inflammation of the pancreas or, in other words, pancreatitis. This disease causes certain symptoms. Inflammation of the pancreas brings very painful sensations, comparable in strength to renal colic.

Causes of inflammation of the pancreas:

- Disease of the gallbladder;

- unhealthy fatty foods and alcohol;

- abdominal injuries, injuries;

- taking certain types of drugs (antibiotics, furosemide, estrogens, etc.);

- infections and parasites;

- anatomical abnormalities (tumors, narrowing of the duct);

- Vascular disease;

- a violation of the hormonal background and metabolism.

However, in about a third of patients, the cause of pancreatitis is not established.

Symptoms: inflammation of the pancreas

This disease has the main symptoms. Inflammation of the pancreas in the acute phase: very strong paroxysmal pains at the top of the abdomen, in the left or right hypochondrium, which are shrouded in nature. These pains are not removed by analgesics or spasmolytic. In addition, often there is vomiting, weakness, stool, dizziness.

If the pancreatitis passes into the chronic phase, the pain in the epigastric region remains, and can be given back or up to the heart area, causing a sensation of angina pectoris. If the patient lies on his back, the pain intensifies, and if he sits down and leans forward slightly, it weakens.

The most severe pain occurs an hour after eating and worsen if the patient does not follow a special diet.

Another symptom of pancreatitis is diarrhea. The chair becomes fat, poorly washed off the walls of the toilet, contains particles of undigested food, the color is greyish, it smells very unpleasant.

Complications of pancreatitis

This disease can lead to cholecystitis. On the other hand, cholecystitis itself often leads to pancreatitis.

Violation of the production of hormones due to inflammation of the pancreas can provoke fatty degeneration of the liver on the one hand, and diabetes mellitus on the other.

Pancreatitis can be significantly complicated by purulent infectious diseases, which lead to abscesses and intra-abdominal hemorrhages.

But the most dangerous complication is the destruction of the pancreas up to peritonitis. In this case, a lethal outcome is possible .

Treatment of inflammation of the pancreas

In the acute phase of pancreatitis - it's cold and hungry. When the attack begins, then on the solar plexus area you need to put a hot water bottle with cold water. I have to exclude food for a few days, but drink only non-carbonated mineral water.

When the acute phase of pancreatitis passes, the patient must comply with a strict diet: low-fat light food, which contains a large number of proteins (cottage cheese, fish, lean boiled meat). You can eat boiled or stewed vegetables, baked apples.

It is important that the food is not cold and not hot, as this can provoke a new attack.

Alcohol, garlic, smoked products, spicy spices, fats must be strictly excluded from the diet. Carbohydrates should also be at a minimum.

Doctors often appoint a patient to take enzymes. But it is better to avoid this, so that the pancreas can independently normalize its work. Proper nutrition, homeopathic preparations, herbal infusions will help in this.

On the proper nutrition, we have already said. As for homeopathy, in the acute phase, Apis is usually prescribed for 3 grains every 3 hours, and in chronic it is prescribed every 4-5 hours.

Traditional medicine gives such recommendations for the treatment of pancreatitis:

- infusion of plantain to drink 100 grams for half an hour before meals;

- a decoction of oats to drink 3-4 glasses a day;

- 0.2 grams of mummy diluted in water and drink twice a day for one month.

And it is also believed that the pancreas becomes inflamed if a person chronically experiences a state of despair and anger. Therefore, positive soaps, acceptance of the situation, too, are very helpful in this situation.

And remember that pancreatitis is a serious disease that can lead to death. Therefore, if there are symptoms, inflammation of the pancreas is inevitable, try to immediately go to the hospital for a qualified examination and assistance. Be healthy!
