Carbohydrates are an important element of a healthy diet

There are two types of carbohydrates: digestible and indigestible. Together with proteins and fats, digestible carbohydrates play an important role as energy suppliers.

Indigestible carbohydrates are so-called fiber. They play a special role in the diet, since dietary fibers have a stimulating effect on peristalsis, adsorb cholesterol and toxic substances, provide the most suitable conditions for the normal functioning of the intestine.

Carbohydrates are also necessary for interaction with poisonous compounds formed in the liver. They help to transform them into easily soluble and harmless substances.

The bulk of carbohydrates, used for food, are used for active brain activity, but this does not mean that now you need to eat sugar in all its manifestations.

The complexity of the structure, the speed of assimilation and solubility carbohydrates in food are divided into monosaccharides (galactose, fructose, glucose) and disaccharides (lactose and sucrose). Carbohydrates are an indispensable source of nutrition for the brain and the entire nervous system. Complex carbohydrates are digested much longer than simple ones, since they are gradually released from plant fibers. This allows you to keep blood sugar levels and does not cause a sharp jump in insulin.

But it is worthwhile to be cautious, as excessive consumption of dietary fiber can lead to a decrease in digestibility of proteins, minerals and fats, and also provokes flatulence.

A deficiency in carbohydrate foods often leads to loss of body fat. Therefore, those who want to lose weight can exclude the carbohydrates of their diet, but in this case the energy for the body will come from proteins and fats, as a result of which the metabolism is disrupted.

Carbohydrates are an indispensable element for normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, so their lack can lead to constipation, polyps and even colon cancer.

Vegetables, fruits, cereals and nuts nourish the body with enough carbohydrates. This not only provides the brain with good nutrition, but also reduces the risk of atherosclerosis, diabetes and coronary heart disease.
