Youth age is the time of self-determination

For a long time the youthful age remained without due attention of psychologists and physiologists, and practically all studies concerning school age affected the characteristics of adolescents. But youth is a period when the maturation of a person in the physical plane comes to an end, the formation of a world outlook and the growth of self-consciousness take place, the need arises to make a choice of a profession.

The youthful age affects the period from 14 to 18 years and is an intermediate stage between childhood and adulthood. This intermediate defines some psychological characteristics of the individual: on the one hand, the right to autonomy from adults has been inherited from the previous period, on the other, the definition of one's place in the adult world comes. Accordingly, the characterization of adolescence is determined by the development of mental abilities and integrative mechanisms of self-knowledge, differentiation of interests and the development of a life position.

Leading activity in this period is educational, having a professional orientation. Appeared interest in the teaching is connected, among other things, with self-improvement: now there is an aspiration not only to raise one's level of culture, but also the desire to be interesting for others. Entry into the early The youth age is connected, according to G. Abramova, with the fact that intellectual activity passes to a new, more perfect level. This leads to the fact that at the senior school age, this activity becomes affectively colored through self-determination. Moreover, intellectual development acquires its own individual style, to which a person refers for "balancing his individuality with the objective conditions of activity."

A great leap forward in the development of mental functions, according to psychologists, is due to a moral and scientific worldview. Therefore, the central neoplasm of this period is professional, personal self-determination, which assumes the formation of psychological structures At a high level. The beginning of this process was laid down in adolescence, when a child has a stable image of "I", when a person learns to build his inner dialogue and experiment with himself. Opening the inner world leads to an understanding of its uniqueness, uniqueness, and inevitably there is a sense of loneliness. Therefore, there is a need to emotionally fill the emerging inner emptiness. This leads to an insuperable need for communication, at the same time, there appears a certain selectivity and need for seclusion.

Thus, adolescence characterizes the formation of cognitive / professional interest, there is the ability to make plans for life. It is overcoming dependence on adults and at the same time affirming one's personality as an independent unit. In the communication, the importance of collective forms of interaction remains, and the focus on creating individual contacts appears. The cognitive sphere is characterized by the formation of common abilities, while at the development stage creative and special abilities continue to exist.
