Why are veteran organizations needed and what are they doing?

Do you know that older people are becoming more and more? There are objective reasons for this. But we are not interested in them. Let's look at how society solves the problems of older people, which institutions are called upon to help them. For this, veteran organizations are being created. Not everyone knows about them. And the question, nevertheless, is interesting and relevant.

What are veteran organizations?

In a democratic field, society is not whole. It, so to say, is divided "by interests". That is, each group unites and defends its own views in all possible ways. Veteran organizations of Russia have existed for a long time, since 1991. They were created to protect the interests of older citizens. And they received their name in view of the fact that in those days veterans of the Great Patriotic War joined them . There were many more in those days. That turned out to be a veteran organization. It should be noted that this is an official structure. It operates on the basis of legislation. And there is not only in Russia, but in all countries of the post-Soviet space. True, in some veteran organizations unite followers of a different ideology. This refers to the Baltic states. Methods of work

It is not enough to convoke elderly people, they must be organized, they should be given an aim, and so on. This is done by veteran organizations. They keep records of their members, study their problems, analyze the state's policy in the social sphere. All this work is divided, so to speak, into stages. For example, the primary veteran organization deals with issues of citizens in the field. That is, it is created in a city or a settlement, it unites the people living there. At this level, of course, state policy is not engaged. However, primary work is extremely important. Perhaps, it is currently the most urgent. After all, it is at this level that you can talk with every pensioner, veteran, find out what worries or disturbs them. Such information is collected and systematized. Some problems can be solved immediately, others have a systemic nature and belong to the sphere of social policy.

Interaction with local authorities

Veteran public organizations, as a rule, do not collect contributions from their members. Some of them are financed from budgets. Others exist on donations. It is clear that these money is negligible. To help veterans, they definitely do not have enough. And this is not the essence of the work of organizations. They, if I may say so, accumulate information about the problems. But the authorities are called upon to solve them. For this purpose, relevant appeals are drawn up, negotiations are held, meetings are held and so on. When local authorities pay close attention to their elderly people, its representatives are actively involved in solving their problems. You can say that the state and society work hand in hand. So, in any case, it is required by law.

Concrete work

In the sphere of attention of veteran organizations absolutely all issues concern older citizens. This is a huge work site. We have to provide legal and material assistance, medical services and other. And not only this. Elderly people sometimes need only attention and communication. After all, many of them feel abandoned and useless. That's what the leaders of organizations and volunteers have to turn around in all directions. They organize holidays and holidays, and run to "superiors" asking "uncomfortable questions". Still need to have time to go to the hospital or get a ticket to the sanatorium. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to each member of the collective on holidays. Students and young people are involved in this work. This is not only important for the elderly. It is necessary to think about the connection of generations, about the transfer of historical experience and the attitude to the Motherland of the young. Work is important for the state as a whole. There are also "theoretical" sites for veterans' organizations. They have invaluable information about the concrete implementation of laws on the ground. They can see which of them work, and which ones fail or are braked. These data are combined and sent to the legislative body for further work. Public activities related to the life of veterans are necessary for any country. Otherwise, the elderly will have no one to turn to with their pain.
