History

In the building, which has existed for more than 130 years, is the State Theater of Nations. The architect, according to the design of which it was built, is Mikhail Nikolaevich Chichagov. In 2006, Yevgeny Mironov, theater and cinema actor, took the post of artistic director. In 2008-2011, The building underwent a serious reconstruction, then the Small Scene appeared.

Building

In 1881 the State Theater of Nations (Moscow) was built. Architect M.N. Chichagov created it on the order of AA. Bakhrushin. Then it was the Korsha theater. The name corresponded to the name of his supervisor. It was opened in 1885. The repertoire included light comedies, in the plot of which there was a love affair. This choice is a good way to solve financial problems and attract an unsophisticated viewer.

It was equipped with the latest technology of the time theater. The premises were illuminated with electricity, whereas even in the Bolshoi and Maly theaters there was still no such thing.

Here, special effects were used, which nowhere else in the country was at that time. This amazed the imagination of viewers, critics and the press. And it was this that brought great success to the theater. The sound design that was amazing for that time completed it.

Most of Korsha's theater plays were successful and went on for years. Although there were often failures.

Very often, Korsh attended fashion shows in Europe, and then copied them in his theater. Sometimes even costumes and scenery were identical.

During the years of the establishment of Soviet power, the Korsha Theater was closed. The head himself was repressed. In his building there is the legendary Moscow Art Theater. A part of the actors from the troupe Korsha passed to him. Today the building is occupied by the Theater of Nations (formerly the People's Friendship Theater).

Architect

According to the project of Mikhail Nikolaevich Chichagov, the State Theater of Nations in Moscow was built. The architect was born in the capital in 1837. According to his works, theater buildings were built in Voronezh, Samara and Moscow. The style in which he preferred to work is called "pseudo-Russian eclecticism".

Having received education, M. Chichagov began his career with the Palace Department. Then he moved to the city government. After a while he retired and went to Europe to study. In 1986 he became a graduate of the Saratov Theater School. In 1990 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio. His creative career began with the Oleg Tabakov Theater-Studio, where he was received by the actor. Yevgeny Mironov today is one of the most famous and sought-after film artists.
