What is the "Chevrolet Orlando" clearance and how to increase it?

Chevrolet Orlando is one of the few American cars that can simultaneously combine such qualities as maneuverability, comfort, practicality and expressive appearance. All this makes it one of the most popular SUVs in its class. However, the main obstacle that hinders making it the most popular jeep in Russia is its surprisingly small ground clearance. Despite the inherent characteristics of Chevrolet Orlando, the clearance of this car is only 17 centimeters. With our pits such a jeep will not last long. What to do then? And then the motorists have a question: "How to increase the clearance?".

"Chevrolet Orlando": increase the ground clearance with a larger diameter disc

Just note that this method will improve the performance of the jeep only from an aesthetic point of view, since not all tires (even with a diameter increased by 1-2 inches) are able to provide the SUV with the same maneuverability and handling. The fact is that the installation of large wheels entails the expansion of wheel arches (otherwise they simply will not fit inside), and to mount low-profile tires, firstly, is inefficient, since the Chevrolet Orlando does not change its clearance, and in Second, it's just pointless - you will not go far with our roads on such tires. With each impact on the pit, low-profile rubber undergoes enormous loads, which can subsequently form an angulation, a lump and even a hernia.

How to increase the clearance on Chevrolet Orlando? Installation of rubber or polyurethane spacers

This method is the most civilized and practical in terms of security. Installation of such devices does not entail loss of controllability and maneuverability of the car, and even more so does not affect the dynamics of acceleration. Rubber spacers are devices that look more like a flattened rubberblock. By the way, they have the same design. With a rubber block, that the spacer has a metal hinge in the base, which is covered with high-quality and wear-resistant rubber. These devices are installed between the shock absorber and the suspension arms. On "Chevrolet Orlando" clearance in this way can be increased at least a couple of centimeters. It should also be noted that these spacers do not make the suspension rigid, as happens with the installation of springs "handicraft" production. Serves such mechanisms for quite a long time - up to 100-150 thousand kilometers. Further they sag, and at "Chevrolet Orlando" the clearance again returns to the previous 17 centimeters.

Where to install?

You can install them on any axis - back, front or even two at once. The only thing you need to observe is the pairing of the installation. If the spacer is only on one side of the car, this will significantly shift the center of gravity, which can not only lead to a loss of maneuverability, but also increase the risk of tipping the car. So install them only in pairs, and then your car will never roll over.
