What characterizes pseudotuberculosis in children?

Pseudotuberculosis in children is a fairly common infectious disease that is directly caused by the bacteria Yersinia pseudotuberculosis.

Epidemiology of the disease

Pseudotuberculosis in children, as a rule, is transmitted along the water and food path. Babies are most often infected through eating products without special heat treatment, and also through unboiled water. The source of the infection itself is wild and domestic animals, which, with their secretions, can infect food and water.

Pseudotuberculosis in children. Etiology and pathogenesis

Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is a gram-negative rod predominantly oval. Initially, the causative agent of the disease along the gastrointestinal tract moves towards the intestine, where it gradually penetrates into the intercellular space, causing enteritis. Then the pathogen enters the bloodstream, which in turn provokes the development of bacteremia. Already from the blood, the pathogen proceeds successively to the main internal organs, in particular, to the liver and spleen. There is a development of hepatolienal syndrome.

In this case, the incubation period, as a rule, lasts from three to eight days. The disease most often begins with a fairly sharp increase in body temperature to 38-40 degrees, then there is nausea and vomiting. Depending on the concomitant syndrome, there may also be a rash all over the body, arthritis or hepatitis.

Diagnosis of the disease

If a primary symptom is found, it is necessary to consult an infectious disease doctor. Then the specialist should take the crops of feces, urine and some other biological media.

Treatment and some preventive measures

After the diagnosis is confirmed, depending on the form of the disease and the degree of severity the doctor chooses further treatment. Most often in severe forms of the child hospitalized, and further therapy continues under the close supervision of doctors. In case of moderate disease, so-called etiotropic therapy is prescribed (using levomycetin, eubiotics, nitroxelin, etc.).

Prevention of tuberculosis in children

Vaccinations from this disease must be made without fail. In addition, experts strongly recommend that parents monitor the quality of consumed products so that they always undergo thermal treatment. Much attention is paid to drinking water. You can drink only boiled water, by no means from the tap. After complete clinical recovery, the extract is performed no earlier than 20 days after the onset of the illness. Otherwise, the likelihood of serious complications and even infection of other children (classmates, classmates, etc.) is very high. Parents, for their part, for the first time after discharge, must also strictly follow preventive measures and recommended restrictions.
