With signs of discomfort in the legs, you need to see a phlebologist. The doctor will determine the degree of the disease and prescribe the treatment. Methods of healing can be medicated or surgical.

One of the popular medicines is Detralex, which reduces swelling and a feeling of heaviness in the legs, relieves the cramps of the limbs.

Varicose disease of the lower limbs can develop into a chronic disease. Most often, surgical intervention is used to combat the disease. Chronic venous insufficiency is classified according to the severity of the disease and five stages are distinguished:

  1. 0-1 - heaviness in the legs, telangiectasia (vascular sprouts and nets), reticular varicose veins. The operation is not required, medications, swimming and hydromassage are prescribed. Sclerotherapy or microsclerotherapy is possible - this is a cosmetic procedure for eliminating telangiectasias.
  2. 2-3 - varicose veins of the lower extremities and edema of their tissues. A mini-phlebectomy procedure is used - surgical intervention, in which the affected areas are removed by cutting veins. After removing the bandages, scars may remain.
  3. 4 - veins, stable edema, lipodermatosclerosis, hyperpigmentation. An operation treatment is performed, for example, the Babcock surgery.
  4. 5-6 - diseases of veins on the legs, persistent edema, trophic ulcer. The procedure of mimiflebectomy, endosurgery of veins and plasty of ulcers is in progress.

The main complications of the disease include:

  1. Trophic ulcers are usually located on the inside of the lower leg. Ulcers are surrounded by telangiectasias and occur with descending and ascending varicose veins. If the ulcers are close to the diseased veins or there is high venous pressure, bleeding occurs.
  2. Venous thrombosis is a thrombus formed in the lumen of the veins. It develops if the doctor does not contact the doctor in a timely manner or if the recommendations of the phlebologist are not observed.

Thrombophlebitis is a thrombosis and inflammation of the veins. The most dangerous form of it is acute thrombophlebitis, which can develop on the entire vein system. This phenomenon is called phlebotrombosis, the disease is fraught with a fatal outcome.
