Waterproofing the foundation of the house - a prerequisite for the construction of your home

Waterproofing the foundation of the house is necessary, as it not only increases the time of the building's suitability and service, but also ensures the optimum humidity inside the building, especially on the ground floors. Therefore, it is necessary to take a responsible approach to the design of housing, understanding how important is the proper waterproofing of the foundation of the house. Moisture of soil and sedimentary water is absorbed by the foundation and, in the absence of insulating materials, penetrates the house through walls, which causes their destruction and favors the appearance of fungus and mold. In winter, with a thaw and frost, the water turns into ice and destroys the foundation and the house as a whole.

Waterproofing the foundation with your own hands

If you live in a private house, the waterproofing should be carried out in two stages: the waterproofing of the cellar (cellar, underground) and the direct waterproofing of the foundation of the house.

At the first stage, the floor in the basement is covered with clay layer of 25-30 cm (if possible - black, deep) and we compact it. The layer of clay is poured with concrete 8-10 cm thick. If there is a warm weather, then leave the concrete for 4-5 days to dry and set the fortress to 40%. For dry concrete, lay a layer of roofing material (preferably 2 layers) on bitumen or bitumen mastic. You can put a thick polyethylene film on the ruberoid. If the size of the basement on the perimeter is large, ruberoid and the film along the walls are laid with a jig, that is, with a bend on the walls of the basement by 15-20 centimeters. Turned ruberoid is attached to the wall with mastic or just something that is pressed against the time. Next lay the retaining wall of the brick, which eventually tucked ruberoid and the film will be pressed against the wall of the cellar along the entire perimeter. After the drying of the retaining wall masonry, we pour 5-7 cm of concrete mortar along the top of the ruberoid and the film, we make a screed and floor ironing. After the entire concrete floor has dried, it is necessary to plaster the retaining wall.

The second stage of waterproofing is the external work on the walls. Waterproofing the foundation of the house Continues with the laying of a layer of bitumen mastic and roofing material (You can make two layers of mastic and roofing paper) on the base of the house. But if the groundwater is too close to the surface of the earth (therefore there is no basement), it is recommended to use more modern isolators - rubitex, glass-fiber, etc., instead of roofing materials. Do not forget to make a blind on the perimeter of the house, which plays an important role in waterproofing and foundation protection. It is possible to treat the foundation of the house with mastic and polymer solutions (instead of ruberoid).

Penetrating waterproofing of the foundation

After the foundation treatment, the penetrating materials inside the concrete form crystals, which firmly protect the foundation walls from the penetration of water.

Before they are applied, preparation of the foundation surface is necessary by cleaning and moistening the concrete surface. Then, a penetrating solution can be applied. After this, you need to repeat the cycle of wetting the wall with the application of the solution on the surface.

We apply the waterproofing solution evenly over the entire surface.
