How to choose engine oil

Oil for the engine is of great importance, its quality instantly affects the performance of the car and the overall resources of the machine. Which oils provide the above conditions and meet all these requirements?

First of all, they are divided into the following categories: mineral, synthetic and semi-synthetic.

Mineral oils are produced by processing oil. This engine oil is unstable under certain conditions. This means that when the engine is running in different modes, the likelihood that the mineral oil will not retain its chemical properties is quite high. Simply put, this type of product will not provide the proper lubricating effect to rubbing surfaces. Unfortunately, when the temperature of the motor increases, the viscosity of the oil increases, and its lubricating properties deteriorate.

Another thing - a synthetic engine oil. According to its performance characteristics, it significantly exceeds the mineral one. All because synthetics are created in an artificial way. That is, the stability indicators for this type of product are an order of magnitude higher because of the fact that there is a synthetic base in its structure. Synthetic oil has been widely used in engines of modern cars due to its stable viscosity and excellent washing and lubricating properties.

Semisynthetic oil is a mixture of mineral and synthetic type. Its main advantage is a lower price than the "synthetics". At the same time, the stability indicators for the engine are somewhat lower. A good option for the use of "semisynthetic" is the engine, which has a significant mileage, since the synthetics will burn out.

Which oil to choose?

In fact, the choice of motor oil is not an easy task. There are a lot of options in the modern market of automotive products. This gives rise to some doubts - synthetic or mineral? The answer is obvious if one understands the main operational characteristics of a specific engine. For example, if the motor has a high mileage, its rubbing parts are worn out. From this it follows that to fill the "synthetics" in the engine does not make sense, since this oil is liquefied with mineral oil and will quickly burn out. This is an expensive engine oil, and it will often have to be refilled, which is economically unprofitable. In this case, mineral or semi-synthetic oil will be the most beneficial option.

By the way, mineral oil needs to be changed much more often than synthetic oil. "Synthetics" is less susceptible to changes in temperature, longer maintains performance, has better viscosity. This allows the use of synthetic oil in engines operating under different climatic conditions, under varying loads and different speeds.

In general, it is not recommended to over-economize by choosing engine oil for the engine. But it is important and not to harm, trying to ease the motor life.
