Plate of fiberboard: qualities and characteristics

Fibreboard is a fibreboard, a flat sheet of pressed wood of a certain size. It is made on the basis of fibers, which are waste products of sawmill processing. The material is used in the execution of construction works, it is one of the main production bases in the furniture industry.

What is a fiberboard?

Fibreboard is a sheet material made by hot pressing of chips and natural wood fibers with the addition of a range of binders. Usually polymeric resins are used as reinforcing agents. Additional components include bases of chemical origin, which improve the waterproofing properties of the material.

A conventional cooker is manufactured using:

  • Technological chips.
  • Paraffin.
  • Urea-formaldehyde resins.
  • Ammonium chloride.

Plate of fiberboard: dimensions

The thickness of the wood fiber material varies between 2.5 and 40 mm. Such a spread of standard sizes contributes to the selection of suitable bases for the implementation of certain measures. Among other things, buying more thin slabs results in significant cost savings.

As for the area, the fiberboard can differ in length from 1.2 to 3 m and in width from 1.2 to 1.7 m. There is a special type of material, the parameters of which are 6.1x2.1 m. However, such a large slab of hardboard, Most often, to meet the needs of production and only in exceptional cases is used to implement household tasks.

Marking

To facilitate the selection of suitable material, the chipboard is formed into packs, each of which contains an information insert, which indicates:

  • Manufacturer.
  • Name of product.
  • Spheres of application.
  • Terms of use of the material.
  • Technical specifications.
  • Dimensions.
  • Quantitative indicators in pieces and square meters.
  • The date when the fiberboard was made.
  • Stamp confirming the passage of technical control.

Application

Plates of fiberboard laminated are widely used as thermal protection and soundproofing during the implementation of finishing activities. And the material is used for these purposes not only in individual, but also in industrial construction.

The fiberboard is valued not only for its practical properties. The material stands out for its decorative qualities, which are due to the use of special paint and varnish coatings.

Are actively used fiberboard plates for the arrangement of floor coverings. Due to high strength characteristics, even relatively thin sheets with a thickness of the order of 6-7 mm can withstand the impressive pressure, eliminating the unevenness of the wooden or concrete base. Laying the material on the floor does not require the use of glue or fasteners in the form of nails, screws, other.

Types

According to the specifics of the application and the manufacturing method, the following fiberboard is selected:

  1. Soft - relatively unstable, but have a porous structure, which becomes an indispensable property when it is necessary to install sound and heat insulation.
  2. Semi-solid - a more dense variety of material. It withstands impressive mechanical loads and therefore is used in the manufacture of furniture elements.
  3. Solid - characterized by increased density, quality performance. Used as overlapping, the basis for the organization of partitions, flooring.
  4. Obladozhennye - have a carefully worked exterior surface, covered with a paint and varnish layer. To impart decorative qualities to the material, patterns, images are often applied. The main advantage is not so much practicality as an attractive appearance. The obvious disadvantage is the high cost.

Transportation and storage

Wood-fiber plates are transported by freight transport, the conditions of which are able to protect the material from mechanical damages and natural precipitation.

If to talk about storage, the packs of fiberboard are stacked on bars or pallets stacks. The height of the latter should not exceed 4.5 m. The material is stored in well-ventilated rooms with a moisture content of not more than 70% and a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
